Bank of America....I need advice. |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-21-10 11:48 AM by Ecumenist
We bought a bank owned home in September and moved in in October. We found out the the mortgage was sold to BANK OF "FREAKIN'" AMERICA!! I hate this bank. Anyway,we chose the biweekly payment option. Even though we sent all the information in, as we were supposed to, as BofA asked, we started incurring late charges. We tried to call to straighten it ot but it was like pulling teeth from a chicken. Then, collections from INDIA started calling, sometimes upwards of 6 times a day. Trying find out why this was happening, has been awful and infuriating. In December, we sent in THREE PAYMENTS to get ahead. Even though by the 6th of January we were paid up for the month, we started getting the bloody phone calls again. We logged into the website to check what happened to the payment, actually saw it and noted that IT HADN'T BEEN CREDITED. We were livid and called to see what was happening and why. The customer service representative not only couldn't understand why we're being called but couldn't understand why the system keeps charging us late fees. He told us to ignore the calls because it didn't make sense that we were being called by collections. This was last Thursday. FRIDAY, the collections calls started again and there were 5 calls. Yesterday there were 2 calls.
Does anyone know ANY governmental departments or consumer groups that I can talk to to get some relief from these idiots?

1. First thing GET OFF THE PHONE |
|
You need a PAPER TRAIL. Have ALL your correspondence from this point on IN WRITING.
Also go to a branch ASAP and talk to the branch manager. They actually have more ability to fix things than the Indian CSRs.

Here's another # to try -- it's listed for existing loans in my new phone book: 800 228 5399.
Oh yeah, and call the consumer reporters at the Sacto TV stations. Can't hurt.

4. Bank of America is the devil |

and one department has no ability to communicate with any other department, apparently. I agree, have EVERYTHING in writing - even type up notes of your phone conversations. Good luck!

5. Do you have a B of A close enough to you to go in person? |
|
First I would call my Representative's office, my Senators office & any State public reps and sens too. They all employ assistants (that you pay for) to handle problems like this.
Then I would go into one of the B of A branches and speak to the Branch Manager. That person may not be able to correct your problems but he/she should know someone who can!
This kind of crap happens when a business gets too big and noone knows what the other guy is doing!

13. They appear to be a closely held S&L in Little Falls, Minnesota |
|
Not too much information available, except for FDIC reports. President and CEO may be a former Golden West executive. Golden West was the S&L that Wachovia ingested and died from. Originators of the pick-a-pay, IIRC.

14. comptroller of the currency |
|
there is an office in that agency that collects complaints and you can find it online. Be sure to tell B of A that you are contacting the Comptroller of the Currency. You also can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Not much teeth there, but it might feel good to do. I would get in touch with a local investigative news channel.
I'm personally thinking of picketing my local BofA with a sign. Can they have me arrested for picketing with a sign that just has a picture of a pirate and the URL for move your money?
