We will now find out just where the American public stand. The financial reforms that are being |
|
proposed by Obama is widely being dissed by wall street. This is a populous issue. It is effectively bringing back Glass Stegal
For those who were outraged because of the financial bailouts, will they support this? I am skeptical. Not from the folks here at DU, but from the so-called populous crowd. I suspect what we will find out is that populous crowd is in reality just a bunch of right wing partisans for the most part, and will be against this proposal also

1. Teabagger heads are exploding as we type.. |

IMO they'll be against it because in reality they're just all anti-Obama, all the time.
Hopefully this will expose them.

7. Not only the American public but also where the DUers who... |
|
have expressed outrage at the banks (and rightly so) and blamed Obama for it. Will they acknowledge this is an action by Obama they CAN acknowledge AND support?
Given the way previous threads on this have few posts and sink to the bottom of the page at a record pace, I will not hold my breath waiting for said acknowledgment and/or support, sadl.
Recommended.

14. The 'meme' will be.... |

any one of the following:
"nice speech, means nothing" "all talk, no action"
etc, etc, etc,
Those that are truly concerned about the current unregulated banks will definitely be in full support of these measures I have no doubt. It is the ones who are more interesting in slamming Obama and use the unregulated banks crisis to do that slamming that will ignore this or, a few, will poo-poo this as 'grandstanding' and those are the ones to which I am referring.

and I strongly hope they do so and re-regulate the banks. It was the regulation of the banks in Canada that 'saved' us from the catastrophic effects that took place in the U.S.

middle, I was referring to the so-called "popular" movements such as the tea baggers and the like
I believe most Democrats will be unified on this, and I also believe most true independents will support it also
This was NOT a jab at Obama

17. It's doing a lot more than that |
|
It's bringing back Glass Stegal with updated regulation of modern financial instruments.
Plus it's applying anti trust laws on banks. As in "Too big to fail" means too much monopoly of the financial market.
Woohoo!
This is a very good answer to Brown's win IMO. It should get good support from the indies out there.
