Dems Lincoln and Landrieu conspire with Murkowski to block EPA from regulating greenhouse gases
1/21/10

Arkansas Democrat Blanche Lincoln is joining forces with Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski in an effort to block the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating greenhouse gases.

Lincoln, a politically vulnerable senator who comes from a manufacturing state that leans Republican, warned that “heavy-handed EPA regulation, as well as the current cap and trade bills in Congress, will cost us jobs and put us at an even greater competitive disadvantage to China, India and others.”

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) is also working with Murkowski on proposals to stop the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

Murkowski plans to formally introduce a “resolution of disapproval” on Thursday, a rarely used process that allows Congress to overturn agency rules.

But to become law, her resolution must be passed by the House and signed by the president – an unlikely outcome given that President Barack Obama is unlikely to overturn a rule empowering his administration.

1. Why doesn't Lincoln change parties and run as the Republican she really is?

And that would free up Arkansas to run a for real Democrat.

Same for Landrieu.

4. DLCers remain where they are because they can do more damage to the party from within.

2. From what I understand,

people here gave Lisa an earful yesterday, but I didn't bother. She's going to do whatever she's going to do no matter what anyone says. Even after the revelation that she has accepted $125,000 in donations from electric company lobbyists who are basically writing her amendment for her, she's unapologetic.

As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She's her daddy's daughter after all.

3. "Conspire" -- ?
:eyes:

(And my apologies if Politico originally used "conspire" and changed it before I read the article.)

It looks more like a symbolic feint to give them political cover. Political theater. And reported on a right-wing website that maintains remarkable credibility among the left.

You DO realize that the conservatives/Republicans are playing us like a cheap violin, right?
