1. This rating system is weird.

I put the video up one minute ago, and the rating is already negative zero.

Why do people rate content they haven't viewed?

10. A lot of people already heard about Helmke's most notable rating of the President.

21. OK,

1. Gun in national parks. I'm fine with people carrying them in National Parks just like I am fine with folks carrying guns in public places according the laws of the land. Gun free zones just make law abiding folk who leave their guns at home or in the car more easily victimized by criminals who won't follow the law.

2. Guns on AMTRAK: These guns are unloaded and checked in luggage that are put in luggage compartments. These guns pose no threat to anyone. I can check guns on planes too.

3. About the gun violence in the US: Most gun deaths are totally unacceptable and I support laws, regulations, and policies to minimizes those deaths as long as they do not infringe upon law abiding folks to keep and bear arms. Paul Helmke would happily trample over people's 2nd Amendment rights in his attempts (most likely futile attempts) to reduce gun violence.

What else do you want to know?

2. Is that a surprise?
Obama pretty much promised to not touch gun laws. But I don't understand how it's his fault anyway. Pelosi also said she's not doing anything either.

3. Did you view the video?

It specifically addresses your question, in detail.

Two pieces of legislation that WEAKEN gun control. They didn't put forth expectation that he would have moved common sense gun legislation forward within the first year, they did not expect him to weaken existing law.

And, his silence about the gun issue in the face of the mass shooting and gun violence is another key concern.

Definitely watch the video. It is very articulate and wellstate and gives concrete concerns, not general attacks.

Give it a look.

8. But gun violence is at its lowest level since the early 1960's
Why does he have to talk about gun violence? Whatever we're doing is working.

23. And that's a hell of a lot better than it was 50 years ago even
Like it or not, gun crimes are way way down from the 90s, 80s, 70s, and 60s rates.

25. Here's a good table going back to 1989
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2008/data/table_01.html

It kind of irks me that everybody expresses such concern about the crime rate and then has no idea how low it actually is compared to the past.

9. Maybe, but that's hardly a tombstone-able statement
A lot of us on this board have been saying it for a long time. Gun control is a horrible idea, doesn't work, and gets Republicans elected.

18. That isn't cool. Alert a mod if you think someone is a disrupter

but threatening someone with a tombstone is not cool.

7. Thank God
The Brady campaign is run by Republicans and they love making Democrats lose after championing pointless laws that don't actually prevent crime.

12. Failing Paul Helmke is a sure sign the President is much smarter than Paul Helmke

Allowing concealed carry in National Parks and allowing checked, unloaded firearms in AMTRAK luggage does not make anyone less safe.

Paul Helmke sells fear of guns and gun owners. Paul Helmke is lousing political clout and political relevance. Hence he has to make a scene by giving Obama an F on gun control.

Than anything the Brady campaign is after.

Do people believe it is a good idea for people to be able to carry guns in national parks? That became law in the last year.
