2. Same here.
We are fortunate that we have the choice to move on. Hell keeps going for the people of Haiti.

3. I'm so worried about disease outbreaks
hoping that moving people out of port-au-prince and into tent cities will help prevent that.

7. It will reduce them, not prevent them
second wave is going to happen, regardless.

5. This is sadly necessary for public health reasons. If the bodies are left out,
rats and stray dogs will feed on them, congregating and spreading disease among themselves. Rabies and plague are very real concerns.

Mass funeral pyres are the only way to go.

9. I know.
It is so tragic for that to be the best option.

8. As others said, necessary
they could have used lye... but I doubt they had enough on the Island... the amount necessary to cover that many bodies with 1 inch layers...

Ok I'd better stop on the procedure to dispose of bodies...

10. Yup, they tried dumping bodies in the ocean
Back in the 1900 storm in Galveston, but thousands washed back on shore.

Ended up burning them then too. On the beach.

11. It's the best way to deal with it - especially the smell - under the circumstances.
