For those who are critical of the military's administration of Haitian relief efforts .....
...... consider this: The Navy is having to establish a perimeter of armed, small boats around the USNS Comfort to repel potential boarders.

Yes, they're desperate people looking for help. Yes, they need .... no .... they deserve help as fast as possible.

But can you imagine if we didn't stop people from making their way to the ship by any means possible and board her. How do we maintain the orderliness of a 1000 bed hospital if that happens?

1. And not just the Comfort either
been following this fun from another Navy's perspective, a second hospital ship cannot get to work. And not for lack of will either.

5. Look at size of economies, GNP, and Military budgets
we have triple the budget of all other government's combined. They gave the same, when you look at data like that.

Lets put it this way... you want I don't know Mexico to send a Carrier Battle Group? THEY DON'T HAVE ONE. The largest ship going there is a former US Ship...

So learn to read statistics.

We are NOT ALONE...

6. That is a crock. Everybody else in the world is doing what they always do.
They give a quarter, America gives $1,000.

Don't tell me how the "other nations" are pulling their weight on this. They aren't.

7. They are... and I guess in your world they didn't help during Katrina either
here you go, learn something...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_response_to_Hurricane_Katrina

Now if the US had 1\10t of it's current military and China had triple our military... you'd expect the US oh never mind, this is the usual cry and hew we always face.
