So, can you list other countries that have similar policies to what SCOTUS gave us? |
|
It would give us a nice preview of what we are in for.

4. Interesting the the most populist Republican and most populist Democrat were cousins |
|
We need another Roosevelt.... either a Teddy or a Franklin will do.
Both of them took on the robber barons and powerful interests.

5. That might not be too similar. They didn't have mass media influencing votes like we do. |

6. The media then was worse |
|
There was absolutely no pretense of fairness or accuracy in the media. Pretty much each town of any size had a Republican and Democratic newspaper, often owned by major party backers. The editors had better write what they were told, or they'd be looking for a new job.
If the SCOTUS decides we have no right to legal protection from labor abuses, it'll be 1890 before you blink twice.

9. I believe over 20 states have similar policies. |
|
I read somewhere that in state elections that corporate money can be used as in this SC decision in about half of states. One being Oregon. Sorry but I don't know the specifics on this.

10. Has it occured to people that when the Bill of Rights was crafted there were no mega corporations? |
|
I can't believe that those who drafted the Bill of Rights ever dreamed of how huge corporations would become.
THEREFORE, I can't believe that they intended for their work to be interpreted this way.

No other country must have free speech because no other country, that he knows of, allows corporations to get involved in their elections.

13. America is the exceptional country -no other country really has free speech |
|
because they have the government there decide who gets free speech (puny humans) and who doesn't (productive, life-giving corporations). That's why we're so great!
