...since I am not familiar with Michael Parenti.

I do have something to say on a similar subject, though. I was watching Matthews last night (it looks like the wind has changed, and he's singing a different tune). Pat Buchanan said that the election in Massachusetts was a victory for democracy. Really? REALLY? The Democrats control the presidency, Senate, and House, yet can't get anything passed because it takes more than simply 51 votes to pass anything in the Senate.

That seems an outright affront to democracy.
