It is Free Speech vs Expensive Speech |
|
Yes, you and I can talk we want and voice our opinions and write blogs, letters to the editor, etc. But we have NO HOPE of our small citizen voices and individual contributions to politicians ever being able to mount a counterpoint or defense against million/billion dollar ad and media campaigns that can now legally be deployed for or against any individual politician or policy.
Free Speech of the citizen has essentially just been crushed and drowned out by the limitless dollars of the Corporations.
You essentially will no longer have a voice that anyone will be able to hear.

a huge extension of it into uber fascist territory. I am so glad I am old. I hope my grandson and my sons move out of the country .

2. If I were young I would definitely consider moving abroad. |

The best advice for our young people - become multi-lingual and keep many options open.
My husband and I are talking seriously about spending our retirement years elsewhere.

8. I have also thought about it |
|
I wish I could talk my kids into it. they are both near me . but where does one go? most countries arent interested in some old almost 60 yr old lady with retirement checks. mexico is out, too weird. maybe some country will take pity on us now as US refugees from corporate fascism.

7. Actually reading their "reasoning" is mind blowing |
|
"That speakers may have influence over or access to elected officials does not mean that those officials are corrupt. And the appearance of influence or access will not cause the electorate to lose faith in this democracy." ******************************************
No, that didn't happen during HCR did it? I can conclusively say YES, IT DID CAUSE THE ELECTORATE TO LOSE FAITH IN THIS DEMOCRACY.
How many threads from Du could be submitted as evidence to the contrary?

9. Reading this decision is also time consuming. It's huge. |
|
I've skipped to Justice Stephens' dissent now. But it is also huge.
