The decision affects the legitimacy of elections everywhere - we need to consider a Constitutional amendment.

1. Finally a senator says it. Asshole McCain was on Blitzer last night saying nothing could be done
eventhough he disagreed with the supreme court. Fucking liar.

9. What differentiates Specter from McCain is brains and a law
degree. Of course McCain has no solutions, it's a miracle that idiot has been allowed to represent AZ for so long.

3. Won't happen
Big Media will put an end to any ammendment. Comcast just bought NBC; looks like they knew a windfall of corporate advertisers was coming their way.

I don't really know; some say years, some say a few months.

10. I have been waiting for Equal Rights Amemdment all my life
and my daughter is pushing 40. IOW: don't hold your breath.

We can't get Congress to pass easy stuff that might do some good. You think they are up to this? Or even want to? And then there are all the legislative bodies at state levels that would have to get 'er done.

Wonderful to dream, but America needs to wake up now.

6. Let's push hard to revoke Corporate Personhood.

“I hope we shall... crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and to bid defiance to the laws of our country.” ~ Thomas Jefferson, letter to George Logan. November 12, 1816

Motion to Amend

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United, and move to amend our Constitution to:

* Firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.
* Guarantee the right to vote and to participate, and to have our vote and participation count.
* Protect local communities, their economies, and democracies against illegitimate "preemption" actions by global, national, and state governments.

7. A bit late on the mark. But that is Specter's modus operandi, isn't it?
Takes a lot of 'elected' representatives 'of the people' to get a Constitutional amendment through. Not just 'elected' reps on the Hill, but in most state legislatures too. Since they all just became legal prostitutes, err, beneficiaries of generous corporate free speech, it seems unlikely enough of them would be honorable enough, brave enough, independent enough to actually be PUBLIC servants and real patriots.

The few who would dare to really work to fix this mess will be marketed against and made into laughing stocks because too many voters just don't do their homework. That last phrase is the reason we are now in this situation. We The People failed the republic. Dr. Franklin's droll comment all those decades ago was a prediction which came sadly true, as he likely knew it would, being a good observer of human nature and behavior.

Specter is just continuing his roll in the theater of bread and circus. He is doing bit parts now. His hay-day of important rolls was shortly after 1963.

Easy for him to spout the message. Let's see him do something about it. He is an asswipe republican that decided to screw up the Democratic party.
