I think what scares me most about the SC decision is how little time there is |
|
This wrong has to be righted or you can kiss our Democracy goodby. Its really that simple. It has to be fixed before the next election, because the full force of this travesty will come to bear on us in the leadup to the 2012 election, if where you will find the rise of the pure corporate primary candidate - and which party the person runs in is immaterial. Once they are in there will be no way to unroot them.
And what do we have to face? A Republican Party well practiced in stopping the Democrats from fixing anything.
That is frightening. All they have to do is delay for one half of one election cycle to bring us fascism on a scale unimaginable. They have shown the ability to do just that for a year now - in last night's news they showed the willingness.

1. Raul Grijalva, who is a champion of progressive causes in Congress |
|
Gets elected in a district with one of the lowest turnouts in the country. In a typical mid-term barely 25% of the electorate turns out. It's a low income, low education district. As popular as Raul is, it's entirely possible that big corps could recruit a fake liberal to run against him in the primary and then flood his district with money

2. Unfortunately, there is NO WAY that this is going to be reversed. Certainly not before 2012. |
|
And probably not ever. Just think of the future as being able to participate in an apocolyptic/disaster movie, without the meteors and aliens. Sit tight. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

3. Actually, it has to be done before the midterms. |

I honestly think we'll lose the House and Senate because corporations will support repubs.

7. And even if they don't support repubs they'll support corporate dems. |
|
IOW, there will be no alternative to corporate rule.
Nature of the beast: Fascists are so ugly they have to eliminate alternatives, otherwise they'd never "win" anything. That is also why they can't be honest about who and what they are, they have to take over by stealth. They can never win on persuasion, like honest people.

We can't raise anything like that.

4. You aren't alone in that thinking. I am pretty confident it's going to fail. |
|
It's just too blatant to let stand. Whether it's some intricate political maneuver, or something legal like an SEC regulation, it's going to get the legs kicked out from under it.
I better not be wrong.
Hey, there is a bright side to this. If we vote like intelligent people, and the corporations spend billions, then we'll get a two for one.

5. Eventually the lies will drown out any hint of truth |

Look at the success of the propaganda against climate change and then multiply it by as much as infinity.
Also, once the shark has consumed America then virtually nowhere on the globe will be safe. I suggest this is an at all cost battle here.

9. Yes, you're right about that - but it will be in the Primaries |
|
By the time it gets to the general election the deed is already done if you've got your guys on both sides of the race beforehand.
Think how very easy it is to put up that alternate candidate in each party and then give them essentially unlimited funds to promote and another pile of unlimited funds to slur their opponent.

for this year's primaries, didn't it? Not before filing deadlines, but it'll be in place for primaries, then election time...
