Drive a Truck Through Haiti, 360° Video |
|
This is really an amazing drive through Haiti. It helps to realize the damage and suffering, and may make you a little motion sick. http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2010/01/world/haiti.360/index.html

2. It looks like a lot of stuff is standing |

until you look closer and realize there was once a higher floor on top of it or that there are some pretty big cracks in the walls.
And you know every single structure you see is chockablock full of wrecked personal possessions. My cousin described the aftermath of a big temblor in California as "glass soup" in her kitchen and you know it's worse there.
Following RAMhaiti has been a pretty good education in what's happening there. Earlier looting has just about stopped and it seems people are still hurting but peaceful. There is still so much to be done, though, to get them back even to the shit state they started out in.
This was a great trip. Thanks for posting it.

... is exactly the type driver I encounter on the freeways that I'd like to kick in the ass!! :smoke: More people should see this, so that they'd realize that while Haiti is the poorest country in the west, they live much more "westernized" than a large portion of the world. Many people that I talk to seem to believe that no one in Haiti works, or tries to help themselves, or that everyone in Haiti is illiterate. It's nice to see at least some things still standing well and that some thoroughfares are quite passable. Thanks for pointing this video out!
