Tweety Gets Skewered in Essay

Robert Perry rips Tweety a new one.

http://www.consortiumnews.com/2010/011910.html

"As the U.S. government sinks further into dysfunction - incapable of addressing the nation's worsening economic and social crises - as it wallows in a debt deeper than any Third World country could dream of, historians may look back on some of the empty-headed commentary of programs like "Hardball with Chris Matthews" for clues as to why the United States failed."

Well, that pretty much sums it up.

1. Empty headed, bombastic hollerfests
I honestly don't get how any thinking person can watch that show- and I can see why historians would be equally puzzled.

2. Excellent analysis of Tweety
Matthews is nothing more than a screaming head looking for ratings.

9. Same here!!! Would he treat a powerful RWer that way?? No!!!
Tom Delay is one that comes to mind.
:puke:
He doesn't deserve to have that show after his shameful performance with Rep. Grayson. That was appalling and beyond rude. He was doing his best to distance himself from Grayson so he wouldn't be criticized by the wingers, IMO. I don't remember seeing any other pundit who swings with the wind like this guy, plus he's so enamored with himself and experience that he wields it like a club when he doesn't want to hear the other person talk.

15. Howard called him crazy to his face. It was another stupid, screaming "interivew" - very
disrespectful. Dems should boycott his stupid show.

5. IMO, Matthews is harder to watch than the Fox righties. It's too bad they put
him on the MSNBC election night coverage. When he's there, it usually isn't long before I have to switch to other coverage. If anyone ever wanted information out of me, skip the water boarding and put Hardball on 24/7.

6. This article is spot on, & describes perfectly why I can't watch Mathews
Ever watch his self-promoting commercial? E-gads, he thinks he's the best in the business! How he loves politics, as he constantly reminds us, and brags how much he knows, because he worked in DC. That is all just self-aggrandizing.

He constantly interrupts, then interrupts again. Challenges his guest on a topic they have yet gotten a word in edge-wise. He spits and sputters, and is LOUD!

On a usual day, I have Shuster on, then Ratigan, and at 5 I prepare dinner to eat at 6 with Ed. Kitchen clean-up and incidentals at 7, then I relax inviting Keith and Rachel in - they are staples in this house, they get DVR'd. I just say no to Mathews, and if I catch anything he says, it's by accident.

8. The Tweety program ad on GEM$NBC says it all
Once he wins a point against a guest all is well. Listen to his words- it is all about Tweety.

Let me add that Tweety is only good for Cheney and that's a personal grudge.

The corporate media and their hacks have sold out America for the same price as the politicians.

11. He has passed the point of self parody
I stopped being able to deal with him during the 'firefighters have a right to hire only Irish Catholics' debates, when he'd have 4 Irish Catholic males and no one else talking about this. Buchanan, O'Donnel, and another one, plus Chris. No other Catholics, no women, no black people, no Irish Protestants. Amazing, just amazing that such a panel could even exist today. It could have been called "Us on why we are right."
That was it for me. They were arguing for discrimination on multiple fronts, racial, religious, cultural, gender based, all at once.

14. That SOB was on the "Toady Show" this morning talking about the MA election
He spent the whole time claiming the results were all somehow President Obama's fault. He never once mentioned the name "Martha Coakley", even though she was the one actually running, and not the President.

16. -snip-
Indeed, Matthews may be the archetype of what’s wrong with the U.S. news media, a devotee of conventional wisdom who splashes in the shallowest baby pool of American politics while pretending to be the big boy who's diving into the deep end.

Nailed it.

22. This article is soooo true.
I will never forget him in 2008 implying that Obama would have serious trouble getting elected because he couldn't bowl well, and because he made the unforgivable mistake of refusing coffee and asking for orange juice instead when campaigning at a diner. I mean, DIDN'T OBAMA KNOW THAT BOWLING IS WHAT UNPRETENTIOUS COMMON FOLK DO FOR RECREATION, and therefore it was utterly crucial that he prove he was good at it? Or that YOU JUST DON'T REFUSE COFFEE IN A DINER, because COFFEE IS THE DRINK OF THE AVERAGE AMERICAN, and that to refuse it and order orange juice instead is PRETENTIOUS AND SNOBBY????
