1. Of course. I have watched every SOTU address that I have had
access to watch. Why would I change that now?

2. It should be good for an hour's distraction,
in a car wreck, reality TV sort of way.

It obviously won't matter much in the brave new America(TM).

24. How about this as a bargain?
If you don't watch it, you don't get to whine about what is said. How's that sound?

A transcript is not equivalent to watching the actual speech.

I take a refusal to watch the SOTU address as a disinterest in political issues. That's why I have subjected myself to all those SOTU addresses over the years. Every one since Eisenhower was in office. Every one! Some pissed me off. Some bored me. Some inspired me. I consider it a responsibility to listen to them.

So, for those of you who declare that you will not watch the address: I'll remind you, and everyone else, in those threads that discuss the SOTU that you did not even watch it. I promise.

31. Nope. I just have the thread bookmarked.
I'll just remind people who are posting about the SOTU but who did not watch it that they did not watch it. And I'll do it publicly in the thread where the discussion is going on. If someone posts publicly that they will not watch the SOTU, they shouldn't mind being reminded of their public statement, should they?

As for your assessment of me, you are welcome to make it. I don't mind. I post in public threads, and people are welcome to refer to my posts at any time. It's DU.

Why should anyone object if I remind them of something they said in public?

27. I wouldn't miss it.
This is our President and he gets the full attention when he talks about the state of our country.

I know I didn't vote for him so that I could tear him down, call him names, and put down everything he's done in the past year. I voted for him to do his damnedest to get us back on track....and he's not let me down.

I didn't vote for him because I thought he was all 100 senators rolled into one and could pass everything on a whim. Nor the 435 representatives all rolled into one who could get it done yesterday. I voted for him to put forth ideas and to abide by our constitution. That goddamn piece of paper that means so much to most democrats, and nothing to the republicans.

You bet I'll watch.

Then again, I might not. Not really sure what he'd have to say that could excuse his missteps, and I'd be really surprised if the game plan has changed significantly, so I'm not too excited about the future either.
