I propose an APRP.
American People Rescue Plan

Congress should cut a check of $10,000 (or vouchers) to every American over the age of 18 whose individual income is less than $100,000.

Since the TARP worked to bailout Wall Street, and the money has been paid back---now use those same funds to bail out main street.

These funds would be spent reducing credit card debt, make mortgage payments, buy automobiles, food, clothes, etc.

The economy would take off.

Also, as part of this plan, the military budget should be cut, soldiers brought home, and the money from the military budget should be spent on infrastructure and creating green jobs that cannot be outsourced.

APRP!

1. I don't even want to think how much money that would be
maybe less than TARP though. Once I heard we could have built every family in Iraq the average American home for what we had spent there.

2. It's money that would go right back into the economy. And, it is
less than TARP.

4. It makes sense. The money would eventually get to the banks
and the commoners might catch half a break . . . for once.

5. Your plan only works when this reaches over 1.0.......
Short of that, and the $10,000 just recycles less than one time, to pay off the insatiable dollar destroyer of debt. Say thanks to fractional banking.

6. you are right. Tax cuts are the answer.
Way to buy into it. The beauty of your plan too, is that it treats everybody the same. Whether you make $95,000 a year or if you are homeless or jobless, you get the same $10,000.

Also, I estimate your plan would cost about $2 trillion, which I think is more than TARP by a factor of about 3.

7. I would check your math. You really think that two-thirds of this
country are aged 18 and over and make less than $100,000?

8. okay, let's see
20 million under age five, 20 under 9, 20 under 14 and 21.6 under age 19.

That's 81.6 under age 19 out of 305 million. That's 223.4 million over the age of 18. About 89% made less than $100,000 according to 2005 tax returns. So 89% of 223 million is about 198.8 million.

It's probably a little lower since many of the 17.5% filing taxes with income under $10,000 are probably teenagers. But also some of the 8% making between 100,000 and 200,000 are couples with each half of the couple making less than $100,000. Plus the 134 million filers clearly includes many joint returns. Whereas the teenagers are all filing individual returns.
