Or drops dead from whatever since he is after all, seventy four.
Who replaces him?

Not to be nominated or to serve, at any rate.
Confirmation would be a problem, admittedly. Or maybe not, given that Republicans would vote for him and Democrats would be too spineless to oppose him.

that having someone that drives the Republicans nuts would be best as the first candidate then have someone who does not seem so bad in comparison right after so that way the Republicans would not be so opposed.

43. i doubt obama would nominate a suspended attorney |
|
he was suspended for 5 yrs in arkansas and also resigned his membership on the SCOTUS bar, to avoid disbarment (most likely. nixon fwiw, did the same).
there is no way on earth i think obama would nominate a person with that track record. it just would look bad, on its face.

fwiw, there are SOME requirements. you can't nominate a 12 yr old fwiw.
i am not saying clinton's suspension etc. mean he CAN'T be nominated.
i said very clearly, it would be a bad idea. i did not say it would be against the rules.

On December 19, 1961, at the age of 73, Kennedy suffered a major stroke. He survived, but lost all power of speech, and was left paralyzed on his right side. Kennedy did regain certain functions with the help of therapies. Most notably, he went to The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in 1964, a Philadelphia center that teaches therapies for people with brain injuries. Kennedy made gains with therapy, and began walking with the help of a cane. His speech also showed some improvement.<30> However, being 75 years old and greatly weakened, Kennedy was soon confined to a wheelchair. Despite being severely disabled from the stroke, Kennedy remained aware of the tragedies that befell his family until his own death, on November 18, 1969, two months after his eighty-first birthday.
He did not live to be 100..but he lived long enough to see some pretty horrible things happen to his family.

Imagine the fun we could have with a Supreme Court nominee whose stated nightly routine includes a glass of wine and a joint. Shit, we could put the confirmation hearings on DVD, sell 'em for $29.95 and pay off the Afghanistan War.
