Tim Tebow, expert on women's reproductive issues

Football Player Tim Tebow on What Should Happen in Your Womb

Posted by Tana Ganeva, AlterNet at 3:00 PM on January 23, 2010.

CBS, which previously turned down ads by MoveOn.org, has agreed to run an anti-abortion ad starring Tebow and his mom.

How stupid would you feel if you aborted the next Tim Tebow, leaving our future world with only hundreds of other college football players?

That's the nightmare scenario presented in a Focus on the Family ad set to air during the Super Ball. The completely irreplacable Tebow, who's also left his indelible mark on the world by promoting abstinence till marriage (Oh no! Not a world with only thousands of other Christians who fetishize virginity and outmoded sexual mores!) will appear in the ad with his mom, who ignored the advice of doctors to have an abortion and wants to tell you all about that wise decision.

The content of the ad will be a surprise. All we know so far is the inspiring theme: ""Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life." And that, according to James Dobson, the ad comes at a time when "families need to be inspired."

Oh, we also know that this is the first time CBS has agreed to run an "issue ad" during the Super Bowl. Here's what happened when MoveOn.org and PETA tried to air ads during the 2004 game:

Liberal group Moveon.org, known for its Internet funding power, told members this week that it hoped to have the first political Super Bowl ad.

But its hopes were dashed when CBS said the spot, which asks "Guess who's going to pay off President Bush's $1 trillion deficit?" was an issue piece and could not run.

In a letter, CBS told PETA that it would not run advertisements on "controversial issues of public importance."

CBS spokesman Dana McClintock said the policy had been in place for years. "We have a policy against accepting advocacy advertising," he added.

(...)

The network, over the years, has rejected dozens of advertising proposals by advocacy groups, who argue that the network only airs controversial messages that it agrees with.
...........(more)

2. If I can kick the ball through the goal post, can I
get millions of dollars too? I can kick the ball, it's not that hard.
Perhaps, Mr. Tebow should stick to doing menial tasks such as kicking that ball.

8. He doesn't kick it, he throws it

sheeesh. And there's no guarantee he'll get millions. In fact, most football people don't think he'll make it as an NFL quarterback. He'll be a mid level draft pick.

5. If there's any justice in this world...
he'll be picked up by Detroit or Tampa Bay in the NFL draft and we'll never hear of him again.

10. hopefully you are right
my nightmare would be for him to become another Kurt Warner and thank God for every touchdown and winning championship. I just have this bad feeling Tebow is going to become the "born again football star" successor to Kurt Warner.

13. God must have been out of town last weekend...
when Arizona lost to New Orleans.

Either that, or He thought the season had already ended and He was busy planning his wins for NASCAR racing...

17. That's what I'm wondering
This all happened in the Phillipines, I think--aren't they pretty much a Catholic country?

I'm guessing some doctor or public health official offered her the option of having an abortion, and discussed the odds of problems arising from the medicine she took, and then left it to her.

Since these people live for the joy of being persecuted, I'll bet they portray it as if the doctors hounded her to get an abortion.

9. whenever someone brings up something like
"aborting the next Tim Tebow" I say, how would you know that, they may be aborting the next Hitler or Osama bin Laden. It works both ways.

And to Tim Tebow, I would appreciate it if you(and your mother) would stay the hell out of my uterus. Thankyouverymuch.
