ICRC in action... in Port Au Prince
here are the photos of the ICRC personnel doing their job...

I post this link so people can actually see other people, not just the US, doing a job. And body recovery is a thankless one by the way.

1. I can't imagine
being on body recovery duty. Or morgue duty. These people are made of much sterner stuff than I am.

2. That is one place, sort off, I never went
We had to go witness the coroner doing his job... part of the training.

And we helped recover bodies where the coroner could not go to... but thankfully those were RARE.

They usually were the car that went over the side and damn it, we had the gear, and they did not. I got only ONE of those, and I still thank my lucky stars it was during the winter...

11. I think it was Michael Herr
...who said "Once you've carried the dead, their weight is always with you."

Stuck with me. Thanks for posting these, BTW.

12. Oh you welcome
And I could add something to that line. Once you smelled death, it never leaves you.

3. Thank you for the link..
All of it is sad...

I wish more people could understand what is really happening instead of making a political statement!

Thank goodness for ICRC.

4. The politics are always there
can't avoid it.

Politics I get it... getting wishfully ignorant, I don't.

5. Love the name "Tidball-Binz."
Body collecting and dumping is another thankless task but desperately necessary.

One dead mouse in my house will start to stink up the place within 24 hours. I hate mass graves but there is no other way.
