Can't some progressives file a suit against their money in their corporation being used |
|
to support a candidate or a party that they are opposed to? I don't own stock but what if I owned a couple hundred shares of Wig Gig corporation and they were giving all their/MY money to Sara Palin for president. I would squirt blood from my ears! And I think I would have some recourse.
At least we can get all progressives to file this type of suit and smash up the court systems until they change it.

1. I don't think they could establish standing to sue. |
|
They would have to show harm unique to themselves and not some generalized harm that is equally applicable to millions of others.

3. How about lack of health care as harm and a dead family member? I know it's a stretch |

5. Health care is a political issue |
|
the courts won't get involved - which is the correct position as we want elected officials making law for us.

2. Your options would be to |
|
use your shareholder power to change the behavior of the corporation or to sell your shares. Otherwise it would be like me suing Apple for making the Newton and wasting "my" money; their behavior wasn't illegal and did not violate my rights in any way.

4. This is what you can do |
|
#1 - Divest yourself of any interest (shares, bonds, business relationships) in any company that promotes candidates that oppose your beliefs
#2 - Stop doing business with those companies
Companies exist to make money. Hurt their bottom line and they will change their behavior, or suffer appropriately.

6. Doesn't work if you are retired and have money tied up that would be taxed by half |
|
and doesn't help if you need to heat your home or need electric. A consumer is by far helpless in some cases. In some cases, as you say, very small things can be done though.

7. If congress could pass a bill saying since a corporation |
|
can give unlimited money to a candidate each and every stockholder would have to vote for the way the money was spent, then you could protest. And I bet 2/3 would protest also. In the corporation unlike the senate the majority rules only 51 percent has to protest and then they are down the tube.
