Oh, I have to weigh in. I have to add my advice with some priorities.
1. Take care of your body. You can't go anywhere without a healthy body. All of the sins of our youth come back to haunt us--Tobacco use, unhealthy food, too much sun, sedentary lifestyle. Make a life plan to be healthy.
1. Develop passions. No, not commercially driven such as spectator sports, gambling, etc. Instsead, art, music, literature, exercise, crafts, volunteer work, etc. These are cheap and rewarding.
2. Learn to love what you have to do anyway.
3. Don't buy what you can't afford. Wait until you can afford it or don't buy it at all.
4. Don't expect something outside yourself to save you--not your relatives, your friends, or a higher power. Take responsibility for your life.
5. Take Garrison Keillor's attitude--"It could be worse."

Nothing wrong with a chocolate chip cookie every once in a while (or even 2). Just don't let them take over.

Nothing wrong with spectator sports. Just balance them with the others on your list.
