Italian teenager slashes dad's throat in Playstation row
Source: RIA Novosti

A 16-year-old Italian boy in Turin has cut his father's throat after a dispute over the FIFA Soccer 2009 Playstation video game, national media said on Monday.

The boy is said to have lost his temper after his father kept giving him advice on what moves to make. The teenager then snapped "I know how to play myself" and swore at his father.

His enraged dad then switched off the console without letting his son finish the match.

The boy then took a knife from the kitchen, returned to the living room and silently stabbed his father in the neck. He then calmly washed the knife and went to his bedroom.

His mother found her husband bleeding and called the ambulance and police. The man was in a critical condition, but survived.

3. I will remember this when I tell my 5 year old how to play Wii bowling.
Seriously, that was disturbing. Sounds like the kid had mental issues above and beyond a video game.

4. exactly my point. pre-existing mental health issues,
there's a potential myriad of reasons behind this. we know nothing about the family's history or other issues.

16. I disagree. The true moral is:
Never interupt a 16 year old boy when he's playing with himself.

2. Ever see teens going bonkers when parents take away the games?
There was a TV news item showing teens in fits of rage after their parents took the video games away. Apparently, the games can be a serious addiction for some teens.

12. I remember the occasional temper tantrum well before video games were invented
Didn't get out the knives, but that's just me. I'm more into chainsaws and they didn't own one.

10. Ban video games!
If a regular video gamer turns psycho, we get national initiatives to ban video games.
If a regular alcohol drinker turns psycho, nothing happens: Alcohol is our cultural heritage!

15. So was he winning when his dad had the audacity to coach him?
And he didn't even kill his dad? What does he need? Jack the Ripper to coach him on that too?
