2. eleny, you might want to read Russ Baker's "Family of Secrets" |
|
John Dean is not the born-again liberal we all have been led to believe in the Watergate Fable.

4. He should be, he's a lawyer...although his pre-Watergate legal resume was one of shame. |
|
Read up on John Dean and his botched law career before he found a job as a dirty trickster in the White House.
You will be surprised to see what a piece of shit Dean was even long before Watergate. Sleazy.

7. I never heard him say he was a liberal |
|
If I recall right he says he's unaffiliated. So I don't think he's changed his spots. But I do want to hear him talk about this caper nevertheless.
Thanks for the book tip, DZ. I'm always looking for the good non fiction. :hi:

9. Hello my darling eleny! |
|
I thought I'd read every book there was on the Bush family, so when Octafish told me last year to read Family of Secrets, I sucked it in and read yet another bio on the Bush cabal, but this one will turn Watergate upside down. My head is still spinning from the shuffling of the history in that book. Dan Rather and Bill Moyer both praised the book and Gore Vidal said it was one of the most important books in the last ten years. High praise. I hope you can read it.
And here's a hello to you, too. :hi:

11. Oh wait a minute - I bet it's on my list of must-reads |
|
I remember reading about it in the forum here at DU.
Right now I'm reading Mortenson's about building schools in Afghanistan. A mind cleanser to help me keep faith in humanity. But Family of Secrets keeps coming back to tap me on the shoulder. Thanks again!

10. He is not, never said he was, not even him |
|
what he is, is a man with a special take on the dirty tricks... and has no friends anywhere.
So at this point has little to lose by telling things as HE sees them.
I read his analysis of Conservatives in Conservatives without a conscience... and he is still a conservative, he just developed a conscience, and his book should be required readying together with True Believers. Only as Poli Sci analysis of where we are.

8. We're going to the natural history museum tomorrow afternoon |
|
It's a Genghis Khan exhibit that's ending soon. I think I'll set the DVR for the afternoon. We'll be home in plenty of time for the SOTU. But it'll be good to hear about any updates on all this.
Maybe O'Keefe is so full of himself he'll Tweet some more or maybe even blab... I mean blog a little about all this. He strikes me as the type who would think he's smarter than his lawyer who probably told him to clam up. :D
