As you prepare to watch Obama's Big Speech tonight, keep this in mind ......
BUSH and the REPUBICANS got us into the deep shit swamp we're wading through.

You may or may not approve of some or all of Obama's strategies and moves, but he had far less maneuvering room than most of his predecessors.

Our national crisis is very much a mess created by the REPUBICANS.

1. Okay - I meant to post this again, more completely, but this is a great analogy
I heard on Stephanie Miller this morning.

We hire someone to clean out and organize our closet which is a mess.

The person first of all empties the closet to take stock of what's there.

We holler "We hired you to clean and organize this! Why is that stuff thrown all over the floor?"

Then the person folds up a pair of jeans and places them into the closet, turns to the next item...

We holler "Why are you wasting time with those jeans? Why is that shirt rolled up in a ball in the corner? Why aren't you doing something about that shirt?"

And so on...

16. I cleaned out my studio room last week.
For the first five hours, it looked like a bomb had hit the place!
There was junk all over the bedroom and living room.

By the time Sweetie got home from work, all the crap was reduced to a neat pile by the door to take out to the garbage, and the studio was all back together, looking better than it's looked in years.

Obama is still in those first five hours...

19. Yep. And I know what you mean, you look around and look around and it
seems you've accomplished nothing, then it seems like all of a sudden - it's done! Doesn't it feel great?

3. KnR, Stinky. Speaking of swamps, my old boss in County Public Works used to say...
... When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember that you came to drain the swamp.
RIP Chuck; you were the best.

7. I Agree With You Stinky... But Here's The Problem:
Link: http://cohort11.americanobserver.net/latoyaegwuekwe/multimediafinal.html

When I learned Life-Saving as a teenager, we were taught to rescue a drowning person from behind... in case they panicked and tried to climb up on top of you, and you had to kick them away to save yourself.

It ain't fair, and it ain't Obama's fault, but I have no idea what you do with millions of drowning people.

We have a lot of panicked people right now, and most of them vote... not necessarily rationally.

20. Just because they're gone doesn't mean that their mess isn't still mucking everything
up. I think the mess was broader and deeper than Obama knew. (I actually think it's probably like that for every incoming President.)

12. Bullshit, it would've been as simple as coming in and taxing the
rich, regulating banks and their bail outs, and doing a full blown middle class stimulus.

Instead he promotes the rich, gives away taxes to banks and wars, and "feels" for the middle class.

17. You're arguing the tactics *after the fact*. The underlying problem was what BUSH left us.
You can't convince me to be more critical of him that I already am. I am VERY critical of some (most, actually) of what he's done. But the underlying problem was inherited ...... from George and Barbara's idiot son.

14. Meh, plenty of people in both parties are responsible.
The Republicans have plenty to answer for, but there was no shortage of Democrats doing their part to add to the mess and sweep important issues under the rug for the sake of political expediency. There are significant factions in both parties selling the American people down the river; merely being (nominally) different isn't good enough. Far too often they barely differentiate themselves on topics I care about, including economic issues.

Warning to all is that neoliberal and neocon are alike in foreign and economic policy.

I want to see Keynesian economics, fair trade, de-militarianism, and legal and social justice.
