(to Republicans) "If you're going to insist that it take 60 votes to do ANYTHING in this town..."

"... then you now have to actually help govern."

(paraphrased, of course)

Smackdown.

2. It was stupid for them to enact that in the first place
The Filibuster has worked against the people's will many. many times throughout history

3. So the Republicans have the power to 'insist' on those 60 votes?

4. That was done way back in the 1800's
Opposition parties have often used it to thwart the intent of the people. Sort of the same principle as the electoral college.

5. I think it's also a lot of Democrats insisting they have to have...
an absurdly large amount of votes to do -anything- at all.

6. I know a way to fix that
it's called reconciliation. Do it everytime just get it done. It's good way to kill off Lieberman too

7. Lie-berman's already irrelevant
One botched election made sure of that.

8. I watched filibusters in the 50s and this is nothing new except they
now need 60 votes to end a filibuster. It has nothing to do with any Democratic claim. However, I for one, would like to see them filibuster some issue the American people actually want. Their response tonight showed just how much they would stick their foot in their mouth.
