Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito looked so surprised
Edited on Thu Jan-28-10 10:33 AM by G_j
when Obama criticized the SCOTUS ruling.
But how could he have been? Obama had already made his feelings clear about the ruling before the State Of The Union address.
I thought that kind of weird.

1. Gee, I'd think that Alito would be well accustomed to "theatrics" since it was
his wife's "feigned outrage" of Senator Kennedy's stern questions that scored old Sammy his seat in the first place.

He should have been well prepared for such situations, yet he was NOT.

14. I bet he practiced his "outrage" in the mirror for hours before the SOTU.
I am surprised they didn't have a camera crew wherever Mrs. Alito was, to get her "reaction".

3. Guess he didn't expect to be called out on national TV in prime time
Probably thought their little stunt would continue to fly under the radar of the average person who doesn't watch the news.

13. Assigned Carte Blanche
Both Alito and Scalita exhibit a trait which is uncharacteristic of Americans. One that believes that once they reach a certain level, they are beyond reproach. Yes, our society has built-in inequities, but these are contradictions which are frowned on by anyone who sees it. Obama showed us that he's willing to speak out loud what others can only whisper.

Keep this in mind, people, I may not agree with some things that Obama is doing but he's NO WEAK DEMOCRAT. The man has got a spine.

6. Give Sammy a break
He didn't know black people could talk. In his experience, they just nod in agreement with whatever stupid thing falls out of your mouth.

8. Were Scalia and Thomas there?
I looked for their reaction but didn't see them there with the others.

12. No - where were they?
Do they disrespect this President so much, they wouldn't even attend? Were they so blatantly ashamed of the decision, they were embarrassed to attend? Shameful. I would like to know where these "public servants" were. Together somewhere, no doubt....

10. The right wing five are living in a delusional world
where good is bad and evil is rightousness. It's no surprise they are suprised when reality intrudes.

11. All the far right loons are being trotted out to do damage control
I woke myself up screaming "BULLSHIT!" because I'd left the clock radio on and that idiot John Kyl was maundering on about how Republicans weren't just obstructionist crybabies, they were working hard to protect the country from liberal predation.

I have to watch that, it was not a nice way to wake up.

A measure of a successful political speech is how well it stings the opposition. The opposition has been deeply stung. Just don't expect them to look in the mirror Obama held up to them and blame themselves instead of the mirror. No conservative is capable of seeing fault in himself.
