1. I Can't Stand Bennett Either |
|
It got so bad that I flat-out REFUSED to listen to him starting about a year-and-a-half ago (it coincided with his decision to ferociously bash Obama at every turn). Without question, this guy is a REPUBLICAN who has A FEW liberal leanings. Same with Lynn Samuels. I can't listen to either of them. And with so many GOOD liberal talkers out there these days, these two STILL have shows during prime radio listening time? Here's my problem with "apologist" Democrats: when have you EVER heard a conservative media member say a single bad thing about a Republican? Yet so-called "liberal" talkers bash Democrats every chance they get. I suppose they think it makes them look unbiased, but all it does is just upset me. In a battle to win over hearts and minds, one side is completely unified while the other is weak and wishy-washy.
Oh, and by the way, Bill Press DOES have a show on Sirius Left. It's on right before Alex Bennett (from 7 to 9 AM). But I do agree with your premise. Let's get rid of Alex Bennett and Lynn Samuels and replace them with more prominent liberal talkers. Stephanie Miller is relegated to late-night, and guys like Thom Hartmann and Mike Malloy are aired at odd hours, which makes them hard to find, even for people making an effort to listen to them.
If nothing else, I boot those two and just play audio versions of Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow from the night before in those slots. And Alex Bennett CERTAINLY doesn't deserve THREE FRICKIN' HOURS every day for his "Bash Obama" show.

5. I so agree with everything you wrote. |
|
As soon as I hear either one's (Bennett and Samuels)theme music, I can't turn the radio off soon enough. Bennett spends most of his time making small talk with Albert about nothing and Lynn Samuels and her foul mouth and screetchy voice, not to mention her bashing of Obama, is truly obnoxious. If they have to be on Sirius, why can't they be moved to 3:00 am? I would love to hear more of Bill Press and the full three hours of Ed Shultz. I'm seriously considering dropping my subscription with Sirius when it comes time to renew because of Bennett and Samuels.

8. I complained voraciously and cut my subscriptions down to one |
|
from the two I had previously... I would have dropped totally, but I had prepaid for two years and still sometimes travel to areas with lousy terrestrial radio.
They seem determined to ignore their progressive subscribers, as at least with XM167, the station goes offline several times a week for sports preempting constantly during late summer and fall. Progressives have ONE freaking station and they preempt it for more damned sports!

I've yet to catch Stephanie Miller on Sirius, outside the odd hour or two on the weekends.

3. Why do they still insist on calling it America Left? |
|
The right-wing station is called Patriot Somethingorother.
Why not call it Progressive Patriot instead of America Left?

4. They were going to call it "Liberty" |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-28-10 12:17 PM by LTR
But the in-house hosts preferred the previous name "Sirius Left", as they felt it best described what they were aiming to do, so it stuck.
Me? I thought they should call it "The Truth".

6. I have complained incessantly about Bennett-- he sucks... |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-28-10 12:25 PM by hlthe2b
I guess he has been around forever and thus they feel beholding to him (for some unfathomable reason).... Feel for XM listeners... He is our late night fare, which is about the only time I have to listen anyway. We get one hour of The Young Turks (TYT)--ONE HOUR, but three of this boring asshole.
Bill Press occasionally gets on my nerves, but we have him on XM and he is infinitely better than Bennett. Sorry, Sirius folks, but you guys stuck the XM folks with Bennett...
So many infinitely better choices are available--more TYT, or Ron Reagan. Hell, even Randi Rhodes (who frequently gets on my very last nerve) would be better.

9. That's why I rarely listen to 146 anymore |
|
Because of Alex Bennett and Lynn Samuels. Both of them are in love with themselves and it shows. If I had my way those two would be replaced by full and live airings of both Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz.

11. He's so jealous of anyone who is more successful than him |
|
it's not even funny. He ranted & raged about Ed Schultz when it looked like he *might* run for the Senate because you're not supposed to use your job in radio & TV to get you an elected position, yet not a peep out of him about Sarah Palin on Faux. He thinks he's bigger than Howard Stern too. :eyes:
