Judge Orders 25-Year-Old O'Keefe To Live With His Parents
Talking Points has this story

As if James O'Keefe hasn't suffered enough indignity after botching an alleged phone tampering operation at a U.S. senator's office, getting arrested, and being photographed leaving jail, the judge in the case has now ordered that he reside with his parents until the next hearing.

Magistrate Judge Louis Moore made the order Tuesday as part of the conditions of release for O'Keefe, 25.

The young conservative filmmaker is free on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for February 13.

Oh yeah, he's real cool these days.

4. Moving up from the basement?
Has to leave the way cool bachelor pad he had set up in the basement and move back into the room he had as a kid. Parents can keep a closer eye on him this way.

6. I don't know why but this strikes me as being really funny. The shame!
Did his parents have to agree to do a nightly bed check?

8. I don't like this.
This guy better be treated like a criminal, and not just some mommy's boy playing games.

But it is hilarious on the other hand.

11. I live with my parents for the time being. Using that as an insult is sort of silly.
Edited on Thu Jan-28-10 04:29 PM by Political Heretic
My parents provide a place to stay during my unemployment and as I look for new work in this state after completing my master's degree last year. It was that or live on the street for me, having no income or assets, a two year old bankruptcy due to medical bills, etc.

And I'm 32. Kind of sad when we mock community and family ties so much in this country. I know, I know the stereotype is of the loser who lives in the parents basement and is maladusted to society. But its irritating to have living at home constantly used as an insult.

I take care of my 2 disabled parents (who live in fixed disability income) while I'm here and it has been a very good time.

Cheap stereotypical insults get old.

14. Who said anything about you?
Mr. O'Keefe seems to be the darling of a set of the cognoscenti, given air time and speaking engagements. He has set himself up in the public sphere as some sort of rugged individualist conservative, anxious to safeguard the public weal from the e-e-e-evil machinations of the poor and disenfranchised served by ACORN. As such, to see such an avatar of self-reliance reduced to staying with his parents during the pendency of his trial on federal criminal charges, the irony is almost too delicious not to be savored.

From your post, it doesn't appear that you are maladjusted to society. It doesn't appear that you fit any of the above criteria of Mr. O'Keefe. And without the self-disclosure, I don't suppose anyone was imputing any of the scorn for Mr. O'Keefe to you.

21. Please don't take it that way. You know what we mean.
Nearly all of us moved back in with our families of origin at one time or another during hard times.

(At 65, I have good memories of those recuperative returns to the nest. Enjoy them, man.)

Anyway, how else can we characterize those antisocial isolates who don't function in the world but get their identity from talk radio wingnuts and anonymous keyboard ranting?

Charged with a felony? I think that's B.S. They should let him sleep in jail.
