Toyota cites supplier CTS in accelerator problems.

Is Toyota CTS's only customer? Do the same parts shipped to other car makers cause the same problem. If CTS designed the part themselves and it is unique to Toyota parts, then *maybe* they have some responsibility. On the other hand, if CTS simply followed Toyota's design, then Toyota owns the entire problem and can quit whining and obfuscating just any time at all.

01/28/2010-Shares of CTS Corp. (NYSE:CTS) are trading down 7% to $7.83 Thursday after a Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) venture suspended production of a full-size commercial van in China as it investigates accelerator pedals made by the company which was also involved in Toyota Motor Corp.'s (NYSE:TM) vehicle recall.

CTS CEO Vinod M. Khilnani said on a conference call that the pedals in the Ford vans aren't the same as those made for Toyota.

In addition, he stated that the pedals were made to Toyota's specifications and that CTS doesn't believe it has any liability for the flaw.

As of yet, there has been no report of any issue with the Ford van in question.

5. Even if the design was CTS's, its up to Toyota to test it

In all likelihood, CTS was simply manufacturing the parts to Toyota's specifications. But even if they were not, Toyota put the parts on their cars. It is up to Toyota to determine if the part is appropriate for the application. It has been suggested that Toyota has known about the potential issue for several years. Toyota is simply trying to deflect the blame to someone else.

6. CTS is a huge manufacturer of electronic parts.

Actuators, potentiometers, etc.

They make a lot of different things for a lot of different markets. Everything from the electronic actuators for accelerators in cars to the potentiometers used for volume controls on stereos, electric guitars, etc.

it sounds like the part was a bit out of tolerance or to tight.

Ford will be number one, GM will be number two and TOYota will be bringing up the rear. And that's how it should be.

11. Subaru Forester owners, look out....

MY DH had 2 sudden acceleration incidents with an 8 month old 2009 Forester about 2 years ago. He traded it in at a huge loss. Subaru denied there was a problem. Our internet research showed others had experienced sudden acceleration incidents.

I think Toyota is the tip of the iceberg. Iknow my DH's Subaru almost killed him. How many people had accidents which caused deaths or disabilities?

and there have been problems with sudden acceleration since 1999.

Contrary to what Toyota says, it is NOT the pedals themselves.
