Remember Krugman's bit "Obama Liquidates Himself"?
&mesg..Was a bit hit on DU. Near the end of that article:
...Now, I still cling to a fantasy: maybe, just possibly, Obama is going to tie his spending freeze to something that would actually help the economy, like an employment tax credit.

Lo and behold. :)

4. i suspect that the plan was already in place before the column.
i know that o can react and act in a crisis, but i think he is usually a little more of a long range planner.

2. Krugman's criticism was over the spending "freeze":
his praise is for the job tax credit. I agree with Krugman on both. Why do people demand 100% loyalty on every issue despite FACTS?

6. Not an issue of loyalty. And Krugman's praise was for *a* job tax credit.
...not "the" credit. It hadn't been announced yet.

Krugman criticized Obama over the spending freezes. Correctly so, IMO. Then he suggested hope for employment tax credits that might actually help the economy.

A day or two later, Obama announces just that. I'd like to see Krugman point it out. Is that "loyalty"?

7. Sorry, my error. I should have directed my comment to the first responder
who seems to think Krugman owes Obama an apology. That's my frustration and I didn't intend to direct it toward you.

I too am interested in Krugman's opinion and I'll bet he'll have some specific feedback in the next few days. I posted a link earlier today to an article written in November supporting a similar tax credit. It looked interesting because there was an econometrics forecast predicting some impressive job creation numbers. The study was published by the Economics Policy Institute which tends to support progressive policies as its focus is on on shared prosperity and working people.
