13. This is what we're all waiting to see. No question, the man rules with his words. |
|
But we've known that for a long time. Let's see if those words can affect something tangible, like HCR, or Campaign finance reform.

dialogue. What galls me is that as soon as it broke - Andria Mitchell said it was confrontational. And Jay Rockefeller instead of applauding the effort - said he didn't thing it would help. Comments like these are what is going to continue the logjam we have in Congress. We need more back and forth like this - in public - and let the people see what each side it thinking.
I like the fact that the President said he will bring both the Dems & Repugs together with him to do more of this kind of thing.

"confrontational" is already out there..
When will we hear Wolfie say "does this signal a conciliatory stance by the embattled president?"

before this exchange - to extend the olive branch to the Repugs after this exchange. If anyone takes shots at this interchange - let it be the Repugs. Rockefeller's comments didn't help here.
We need to show the American public who the adults are here.
If the Repugs were smart now - they would only shower complements on this exchange and not take shots either.
It's going to be interesting to see how this is covered by Tweety, Ed, Keith, Rachel, Wolf, Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc.

It's not going to help break the log jam. But, at least people seeing it for themselves now. I'm glad the President had this thing televised.

8. This was better than any press conference |
|
More informative plus he got them to laugh at their own political approach to everything.
Rockefeller, talking to Andrea Mitchell, was saddened by what he saw because he wonders if anything will come of it. He may have missed the point of how it's really just a beginning to trying to change how D.C. works. A baby step, actually. But quite a large baby step, imo.
Nobody can imagine W doing this. So, to me, today was for us to view and make some comparisons between how Republicans operate and how he wants Dems to conduct business. If it's theater it was really good.
His depth of Republican proposals ought to give the Republicans pause.

It just gets my goat how people start discussing things around here without a single preface to the topic, as though EVERYONE already knows (or should know ???) what they are talking about.
Maybe I'm just not hip or savvy enough but I know it's really rather impolite to introduce a topic on a forum without SOME sort of background information. Sheesh!!!:wtf:

Talk is cheap, even eloquent and reasoned arguments when all the public sees is vacillation.
Now's the time for ACTION, not WORDS.
