little luke russert has it right...
a republican told him 'off the record' that it was a mistake to let the President refute their talking points one by one on national teevee

great move Mr. President.

17. he spoke before the republican house caucus today...originally they were not going to have cameras
for the Q & A session. last night the white house called and asked if they could have the cameras stay for the Q & A.

and he did what he does best.

11. Depends on how you look at it.
If this breath of fresh air blows away the clout of some current Republican leadership and frees reasonable Republicans to take action then it can only be a good thing for the party.

27. Well John Boehner seemed to embrase the spirit of it
for the moment anyway.

If you saw Lil' Russ then you had to of seen the Republican response part, that MSNBC cut away from (which annoyed me), where the reporters tried to egg them on about the fairness of pot & kettle politics, but he didn't take the bait.

31. yeah, but then this exchange came after the SOTU, which granted was only a couple days ago, but
things in D.C. are even more partisan IMO than they were during the Bush years.

If its genuine it'll be a very good thing, regardless of where you stand politically.

If its not, then we're probably doomed to 3 years of gridlock since Obama doesn't seem willing to put a political knife to anyone's throat, in either party.

14. Never bluff with the smartest President ever.
There was a thread from yesterday where 95% of the responses thought this was a huge mistake.

I called it a brilliant political move without hesitation, because I know how Obama thinks.
