2. Once it got over the mountains it turned into a stinker |
|
All we got here in the valley was a lot of wind as the snowflakes blew overhead and stuck to the mountains. It was a great disappointment but at least we don't have to shovel it and the skiers are happy.
Just be careful. It really blew up as it got on the wet side of the Rockies.

5. Oooooh, snow. Better hunker down for the duration. Jesus - the way some people in some areas |

react to a prediction of normal winter weather is hilarious. It's just a little precipitation, people. No need to call out the National Guard. Grow up.

10. I grew up in SOUTHERN VIRGINIA. We had plenty of snow and I cannot remember alerts and panic like |
|
this. That being said, some folks up north also go ape-shit at a prediction of snow. The groceries are stripped bare. This is not the Ice Age. You will not be stranded for weeks and forced to eat your relatives to survive. My comment was only partially a geographic slam - more of a criticism of soft, weak Americans everywhere. Another reason why the rest of th world laughs at us.

16. I've lived in Detroit in the winter and Phoenix and Miami in the summer. |
|
and places in between. Southern cities and houses simply aren't equipped to deal with snow storms and ice storms. The power lines fall, there are no snow plows, most places don't have gas heat - when the power fails it becomes a serious problem.
On the other hand, I laugh when I hear about Northerners complaining about a 90 degree heat wave - we Southerners call that "summer".

and I personally think it's hilarious that the South shuts the hell down when they get like an inch of snow.

11. We had one here in MN last week |
|
But the bad part stayed way way south. I hate to mention it but this year as well as last year we in Northern MN haven't got the blizzards we usually do...I hope we don't get any. But the cold is bad enough been below zero for the last five or six days. And with the wind chill it is 25 or more below at night and sometimes during the day.

13. It's been snowing in my county for a little over an hour now, and over 30 wrecks have already |
|
happened. The cops and scanner are going nuts... the 3 wrecker companies in town can't even keep up. I'm thinking about going out with my 4 wheel drive, or tractor, and a tow strap to pull people out of ditches....
Around here, 1 snowflake falls out of the sky and 9 idiots hit the ditch... :eyes: What really gets me is all the dumbasses with 4 wheel drives who think they can drive at normal speeds and stuff *because* they have a 4WD.... that's not how it works, folks! SLOW DOWN!!!

I have to run to the Piggly Wiggly and get bread and milk for some reason. It's a state law I think. Then I have to panic for a while.
