Poll question: Watching the Superbowl - Poll
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 02:46 PM by ThomWV
Do you watch the Superbowl, have you watched it, will you watch it. I'll set the extremes and the middle, you pick your point of interest.

4. And CBS's discriminatory ad policy is the decision-affirming point. The game is always boring
which is why people pay attention to the million dollar plus ads.

There will not be much impact of any protest against the bigots at CBS, primarily because the Super Bowl is exactly the kind of bread & circuses bullshit that the system uses to blind the peons to what is actually happening.

Because there is way too much emphasis put on professional sports in my opinion.

In the grand scheme of all things, it's still "JUST" football.

I'm not going to give CBS a ratings boost with my viewership. Freak 'em. Any ad that hints to the LGBT community cbs refuses to air, but they will gladly air an ad from the lunatic rw. Sorry, but I have plenty of other things to do on Sunday.

17. DU, I swear, is so full of elitist snobs.
But hey, that coincides with my theory - which has some anecdotal grounding, given that a survey was conducted of KOS members which found this very thing, and I doubt DU is much different - that DU is overpopulatued by upper-middle class, trending toward rich, white people.

i will be wrong. and i hate drawing an incorrect conclusion especially when not necessary simply by asking a question.

so i will leave it at that.... since you dont want to take it any further in clarity. which is totally cool too.

Series of responses in thread talking about the "minds" and "character" of people who do watch sports.

Some even suggesting that only the ignorant of "conservative" could enjoy something as pedestrian as "sports."

If you don't see it, then don't worry about it.

48. Different strokes for different folks.
I find nothing pedestrian or lowbrow about football, car racing, hunting, etc. etc. etc.

They're just not my cup of tea.

I'm not a huge sports fan. I watch March Madness every year, and I watch World Cup soccer every four years (online, since I don't have TV). Most people think soccer is terribly boring. Fine by me. I find baseball and football to be boring to watch, as well as NBA basketball. That hardly makes me elitist.

25. I always encourage everyone to watch
This country tends not to have "national" events anymore. The superbowl is one of the few remaining events we all tend to share in. I encourage people to gather together to "watch" it. It's why Tebow's ad is so objectionable. We should seek NOT to divide us for those 4 hours. Quite honestly, THIS is the time for some "bipartisainship". Reid and McConnell should watch on a big screen in Statuary Hall. Oh, and this year, Super bowl parties should put a "Haiti" bowl in the middle. You select a team, and a dollar for every field goal, 2 for a touchdown. A buck if your quarterback gets sacked. A buck for every interception. Think drinking game rules for a charitable cause.

Edit: and because we get the Canadian feed, I don't even get to see the much-hyped ads. They're pre-empted by the Canadian broadcaster.

42. I watch all the ads online the Monday after.
Yahoo or someone usually posts them all in a group, so you can just go from one to the next. We don't have any TV reception anymore, so even if I wanted to watch it, I can't. But about 20-25% of the over-hyped, over-priced ads are creative or humorous enough to watch online.

BTW...love all the stupid stereotype posts above that suggest that somehow sports appreciation is not a liberal trait. Sports transcends politics unless you try to drag it down. I suspect that much is due to inflated self worth and feeling that some things are 'beneath' these folks and THEREFORE must be right wing.
