The president didn't go to Baltimore to make nice with the republicans |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 10:31 PM by bigtree
President Obama dressed them down and made them eat their rhetoric in front of the cameras today. Watching the exchanges, I was impressed with the way he defended and represented his efforts at 'bipartisanship'; maintaining the line of his values and intentions and measuring them against the credibility (or lack) of the republican arguments. I thought the president was brilliant in the tone and substance of his responses. The republicans have to be sitting at home wondering how they can possibly hope to up their own game to counter this nimble, capable opponent.

14. Right. The "empty suit" who just reads off the teleprompter. When you hear or read that it is like |
|
the person is wearing an "I'm an ignorant asshole" tattoo on their forehead.

8. I figured that too. I think he was playing to the public. show the Pubs |
|
for what they really ARE! I was very impressed.
In fact, ever since, I've been trying to think of any member of Congress, Senate or House, Dem or Pub, who is an match for him. I haven't thought of any so far! I'm not sure if that's GREAT or SAD. GREAT in that OUR President really IS the best in the Presidency, or sad that out of 535 people, I can't find ONE who could really match him!

10. Next time some R puts up their list of demands to be met, |
|
shouldn't the media point out that "We" (the U.S.) "don't negotiate with terrorists"?
I mean, when Dems voted against spending bills for the military, weren't they labeled as "supporting the terrorists"? "hate the U.S."?

|
The Senate repubs are still smug and comfortable with their 41-vote majority in the Senate.

but many of the biggest idiots/wingnuts are in the house, so it makes for better television watching the President "pants" these bible-thumping, racist, WASP pricks.

19. that was a great line |
|
I thought he was brilliant when he went on to tell them how their own cynicism and posturing made it politically impossible for them to backtrack and do the right thing. 'You folks are dishing it out, and they're buying it,' the president told them (paraphrasing).

20. I bet heads were nodding |
|
Because, yes, indeed, HCR is a gol-danged commie plot. Even worse if the HCR involves single-payer, yikes, Stalin, Stalin, Stalin!
I hate that my dyslexia always reads HCR as Hillary Rodham Clinton, it's so confusing.
