Voters are angry, but not solely at Democrats.

They are angry at all officeholders, regardless of party affiliation, said Chris Van Hollen, chairman of the Democratic Campaign Congressional Committee and a four-term congressman from Maryland.

Van Hollen flew into Omaha on Friday to attend a fundraiser for Democratic congressional candidate Tom White.

“Voters do have a bit of anti-incumbent (attitude), and Tom White is not the incumbent,” said Van Hollen.

White, a state senator, is running against U.S. Rep. Lee Terry in the Omaha-based 2nd Congressional District. The two are expected to have the premier race in the state, in the most politically diverse district in the state.

In 2008, the district gave Democratic President Barack Obama a single electoral vote.

Van Hollen said he believes that one of Terry’s biggest liabilities in the race is his past support of President George W. Bush and his economic agenda, and the fact that he walks in “lock step” with the Republican Party.
