the ReTHUGS were stung hard yesterday but they worked all night at coming up with talking points to regroup today. The meme is to say that they attack Obama's increasing debt (pure BS given his response) and they want to talk about the trial rather than the knock out yesterday.
Even Buchanan crawled out late. They are still bruised and sore from yesterday.
How will they spin this on MTP tomorrow.

The facts prove that the Republicans are responsible for the mess we're currently in, and since it's not to their benefit to deal with that responsibly, they just act like they had nothing to do with it.
Fortunately for the GOP, many of their supporters are stupid, and will believe everything they're told. They can't figure out for themselves that all of this started BEFORE Obama took office, which means it's IMPOSSIBLE for him to be responsible for it.
Stupidity is rampant on the right.
Edit: To correct spelling.

We get more of it than Fux - Jamaicans hate Fox and if we go into restaurants and they're showing Fux we threaten to leave and they switch to GEM$NBC.
Hotels that cater for tourists go for BBC and CNN.

That's why I maintain that despite the ass-whuppin' President Obama laid on the Republicans yesterday it was a waste of breath and time except to help make some of us Democrats feel better. The man is brilliant and knows his policy details, which he showed yesterday. BUT, it's not knowing that stuff that gets progressive policies passed, it's hardball arm-twisting politics, and I still think he is not up to that task--OR his DLC handlers will not let him be up to that task.
I'll be thrilled to be proved wrong.

to have made some good moves. No matter how the Reps react they are going to piss off a good portion of the people they need come Nov.
Thinking back, it seems he takes his time when it comes to fighting back. We saw that in the campaign. Remember the race speech? We thought he took to long to fight back, but when he did, he knocked it out of the park.
He gave the congress enough time to show they are incapable of acting like adults before he stepped in and read them the riot act.

|
wait until you have been beaten down, kicked in the groin, hit over the head with a baseball bat, and put in the hospital before you decide to fight the asshole who told you he was gonna whip your ass in the first place.
My inner cynic tells me it's because the Democrats are simply the Republican-lite party of the Corporate Elites and we are the dumbass zombies who believe every lie they tell us simply because we want HOPE and CHANGE. Any party that really wanted to represent the interests of the people of this nation would have declared virtual war on the Repukes from the first time they voted en masse against the President.

are fed up or push up against the wall. I am still trying to see if there is a larger strategy I haven't fully grasped, or if they are as you say. Either way, it is painful to watch.
Clinton used to piss/freak me out over some of the triangulation that was going on, but then I understanding of what he was doing. I didn't like what he was doing at the time, but I also appreciated how well he played the game.
BTW, many of the wounds you described were self inflicted.

52. Clinton, the consummate DLC Democrat, did indeed play the game well. As does Hillary, |
|
and as Barack Obama appears to be doing so far. The "game" appears to be: make enough changes to keep We the People thinking we're working for them while we help solidify the control of the Military-Industrial-Corporate Complex.
Now that we see that President Obama's Justice Department is letting Yoo and Bybee go scot free after pillaging our laws and the Constitution, my cynicism deepens.

56. For starters, it would have been better for all had President Obama not stated publicly that he |
|
was more interested in "going forward instead of looking back" when referring to lawbreaking by the BushCo Cabal. What kind of message do you think that sent to the AG and his crew? To pretend that there was not a huge dose of Presidential influence in this is to ignore the realities.
There are other ways to get the desired result than telling them WHAT to do. Telling them what NOT to do would be effective without being meddlesome. For example, the President could have said to AG Holder "I want this handled by your toughest, most independent investigator. No one who is going to skew the result one way or the other should be involved in this."
Anyone who thinks that decision was not politically influenced is not paying attention.
Maybe you can help me answer this question, Alfredo. Since John Mitchell, Nixon's AG went to jail, has any high-ranking administration official pulled time for malfeasance while in office? I can't remember any. Which makes me wonder if these folks haven't perfected the art of breaking the law with no negative consequences attached.

57. His agenda (healthcare, economic stability, environment) were what the |
|
American people wanted him to focus on, not on punishing the last administration for their crimes. Anyway, he is not a law enforcement agent, he is an administrator. If he had gone after Bush Inc from the get go, it would have further poisoned an already toxic political environment. Nothing would have gotten done at all. His recent moves to push the GOP into a box wouldn't have worked.
I want bush and his asshole friends in prison, but I also understand the realities of politics and our dire economic situation.
Also Holder is not going to attempt a prosecution unless it is a slam dunk. Much of the evidence has been destroyed or will take many years just to get access to. Politically it is better to let foreign courts charge the bush junta. Obama is open to cooperation with the ICC. That is in line with his attempts to bringing the US back into the world community.
Remember too, the Bill Clinton persecution was an act of revenge for Watergate and Iran Contra prosecutions.
