Convention Brews Tea Party Tension
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123126938&f=1002&sc=igg2

January 29, 2010

The first-ever national convention for the Tea Party movement takes place next week in Nashville, Tenn., and Sarah Palin is the keynote speaker.

But the event has become mired in controversy, with most of the criticism coming from Tea Party activists who complain that the event's organizers are charging too much and trying to make a profit.

1. "Trying to make a profit?"
Isn't that the basis of conservative greed? What they are really saying is we are ignorant poor white trash racists without sheets who can't afford to come to the convention. And we're poor because evil socialist liberals beat us down.

2. my jaw actually dropped. The irony is too much. It prove these fools are just following the crowd
with absolutely no understanding of what direction they are going and who is actually leading them.

4. This is not a surprising reaction
The Tea Party movement has started and sustained itself off of "free" media, Fox News and the Internet. It's only natural that some huckster would try to make some big bucks off of the phenomenon, and it's completely forseeable that there are some who would see through it and complain.

5. Actually, the Tea Party "movement" was sustained by....
funding from Freedom Works, the PREMIER body fronting for big 'for profit' corporations and bolstered by "free media, Fox News and the Internet". The 'big bucks' were there from the start as opposed to your contention it is a 'johnny-come-lately' event.

What the current controversy among 'tea-partiers' is really all about is that they assumed 'gouging' the public was only going to happen to everyone BUT them and they aren't happy to learn they are NOT the exception when it comes to corporate gouging, poor babies.

As usual, the right wing want freebies while everyone else gets the bill and are shocked, shocked I 'tells ya', when reality bites them in the ass.

8. OK, there is a perception that it was "free"
As long as somebody else was buying the tea, the baggers were happy to come to the party. It's the shifting of who pays the check that seems to have them upset right now.

9. It's The Peoples Front of Judea VS The Judean Peoples Front
Place your bets!

I just hope those bastards from The Popular Peoples Front don't try to crash the convention.
