You know, that five-sided building across the Potomac.

I'd be happy if spending for that monstrosity was halved.

1. The Repukes would love it
if somehow, President Obama was seen to be cutting defense spending. Surely, there will be another underpants bomber or two (or ten), and one's eventually going to succeed. At that point, Barack Obama is truly toast.

I'm not worried about that, there are plenty of Democratic congresscritters who will support defense spending, their districts depend on it.

2. Half is probably a reasonable ballpark figure.
Nice fantasy anyway. Media, Democratic candidates, and voters are in thrall to the "strong on defense" meme.

6. Does America have ANY idea what the DoD spends?
Seriously? Relative to things like education or environmental protection?

Sure, we're ready if the Soviets cross the border from East Germany into West Germany, but are we any safer having spent TRILLIONS on an adversary that no longer exists (and wasn't much of a threat in the first place, but I digress...).

No, we'll just keep shoveling money into the black hole that is the Pentagon, while the homeless, the hungry, the sick, and the aged suffer the consequences of our neglect.

7. How about we cut the pay for congress and senators by 90%...
since they already get plenty of money from K street.
