Alaska accidents mask abduction tries

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Authorities in Anchorage, Alaska, suspect an individual is using apparent traffic accidents as a ruse in his attempts to abduct young girls.

The Anchorage Daily News reported Saturday authorities suspect on three separate occasions, an unidentified man between 18 and 20 years of age attempted to abduct young girls by first clipping them with his vehicle.

Authorities said the first incident occurred Jan. 14, with similar incidents logged Thursday and Friday.

Police said all three incidents took place during morning hours as the young girls were either on their way to school or to bus stops.

The Jan. 14 incident involved a man offering a 10-year-old girl a ride in his car after he bumped her with his vehicle. The girl refused the man's offer.

A 10-year-old girl did enter the man's vehicle Thursday after being struck by his car, but got away after screaming for help as they passed by her school.

1. This is quite a serious matter.
I hope they catch this guy very soon...he's getting pretty bold.

Here's the Anchorage Daily News story with more detail:

2. As a father and grandfather with grandchildren in the area in which
this predator hunts, all I can say is that I will be pleased if the community gets their hands on this guy before the authorities do.

Of course, I don't want to abandon due process completely. They can leave a few scraps for the justice system to manage.

Sorry, but we're talking about children.

That's all I'm going to say.
