International Criminal Court proposes powers to try politicians who wage 'illegal wars'
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/7112241/International-Criminal-Court-proposes-powers-to-try-politicians-who-wage-illegal-wars.html

At a special "review conference" in Kampala, Uganda, the nations which have signed up to the court, including Britain, will consider a proposal to let the court try the "crime of aggression" - the offence allegedly committed by Tony Blair.

If the proposal, backed by more than 70 countries, passes, national leaders alleged to have launched "illegal" wars could be seized, transported to the Hague, tried and imprisoned.

(snip)

However, the Rome Statute does not currently allow the court to prosecute cases of aggression.

The Kampala proposal amends the Statute, providing a definition of the crime and bringing it within the court's jurisdiction for the first time.

Mr Blair's actions in the Iraq war do not constitute a war crime, genocide or crime against humanity.

But the Chilcot inquiry heard last week that Mr Blair's Foreign Office legal advisers unanimously believe that - in the absence of a second UN resolution - he did commit the crime of aggression.

(end snip)

And, the plot thickens.

2. No, they can arrest them
'abduct' implies they wouldn't be following an agreed legal course.

3. Not as scary as the preemptive war conducted by the Chimp and his poodle.
aka, the Bush Doctrine., which has been written into our official defense policy, iirc. These are the people who terrify me.

And, if they do the crime, they need to do the time, like the rest of us schmoes.

And, I think our own Chimp may have a little torture problem to deal with, which might fall into one of those other categories. But, alas, Dubya didn't join the ICC, now did he.

4. Only the CIA and its clients are allowed to do that, so it's all good.

5. And if that country (the one to be attacked) allows inspectors in
and opens itself up to the scrutiny of the accusing member...then the time served by the aggressors should be multiplied by 10... or 100.
