Has anyone ever calculated how much interest we have paid over the years on Reagan's debt?

Not just paid but will continue to pay for many, many more years to come.

I'm not even asking to count Bush Seniors debt and Bush Jr. I just want to focus on Reagan alone for now because he is the Republican Messiah of helping out the tax payer and supposedly putting all this money back into our pockets. What complete Bull Shit! It would be nice to have an argument ready as to how much he actually cost us just in interest over the last 25 to 30 years not to mention what we still owe on all that debt since NONE has been paid down yet.

Keep in mind that money toward interest is money right down the toilet that we get nothing for in return.

Feel free to give the interest numbers for all three combined if you like.

5. And..you have to remember he cleaned out social security to

balance HIS budget. Because he had cut taxes for the rich to the bone he had none left to balance the budget, which his administration had set up. The money he siphoned off social security, would have earned interest. It would now be carrying social security along and the republicans in congress would not be quivering in greed trying to get it turned over to private companies to help it become more solvent. This is another of Ronald Reagan's legacies.

The only two presidents the past 35 years to pass a balanced budget are Clinton and Carter. In 20 budgets, Reagan, Bush and Bush II never once balanced a budget. Almost the entire National Debt is composed of Republican Debt passed by those three irresponsible scoundrels.

Bush II is the worst debtor president.

Reagan is the second worst debtor president.

Those two combined account for most of the national debt.

1989 991.2 revenue - 1,143.7 expenses, 2,868.0 total debt

1980 interest payments 52.5
1985 interest payments 129.5
1990 interest payments 184.4 (source SAUS 2001)

Trouble is that Reagan fans are gonna blame it all on the Democratic Congress.

11. I figured that I paid $4000 in interest one year...

a few years ago, but that was for the whole of the national debt. IIRC the income was less than $50,000. I bring it up every time a freeper says illegal immigrants are costing me lots of money ($300+ per year, not including their contributions to the economy).

BTW, wasn't the Senate repuke for 6 years of Saint Ronnie's term?
