Sunday Morning TV about to get worse: Candy Crowley Replaces John King on CNN "State of the Union"

Candy Crowley will replace John King on CNN Sunday morning program “State of the Union”. Candy Crowley will take over on Sunday, February 7. The John King CNN stint will include him stepping down from “State of the Union” to launch a new show at 7 PM EST. The John King CNN show replaces Lou Dobbs as Candy Crowley takes over for King.

According to the LA Times, CNN/US President Jonathan Klein stated about Candy Crowley, “Candy's rare combination of shrewd insight and healthy irreverence for the games politicians play has made her one of the most honored political journalists and a cult figure among CNN viewers. Every Sunday, she’ll translate Washington-speak into plain English that every American can understand, as she has been doing better than any reporter on the beat for decades.”

Candy Crowley will be part of a reconfigured four-hour Sunday program. “State of the Union” will be anchored by Candy Crowley at 9 AM EST, followed by “Fareed Zakaria GPS”, “Reliable Sources” and an updated edition of “State of the Union” at 12 PM EST.

Candy Crowley said in a recent statement, “To me, Sunday morning is a sweet spot — a weekly meeting place to bring the hopes, worries and questions of everyday Americans I talk with along the campaign trail to the people I talk with in the Corridors of Power. Add to those conversations interviews with A-team experts and international heavyweights making sense of global issues, and what you have is interesting, relevant information. I can’t wait.”

4. You might enjoy Jason Linkins recap at HuffPo. He's really on this

morning and does an accurate but very funny (left leaning of course) analysis of is being said. Some good stuff re Walters and Ailes..

6. I'd rather just read an article.

I have little patience listening to people talk; it takes a long time (I can read so much faster,) and much of what they have to say isn't worth listening to. I can skim something to get the gist, and slow down and read thoughtfully if it's really worth my time.

When I read, I'm focused on the content, not the speaker or the speaking skills. I also don't have to put up with interruptions and arguments, which form so much of "talk shows."
