because of Reagans attacks on unions, a lot of auto workers ended up on welfare, being on welfare is not moving up to the middle class btw. Then there was the unionized Kroger Stores that were "sold" to Al Kessel, who fired all the union workers and hired non union workers to do the same work at min wage, that wasn't a move up to the middle class either.
That in turn allowed the auto workers to out source a lot of auto industry jobs to non union factories, again less pay means the lower down on the class scale the worker goes not an upward move. Nit wits got to wonder how they can see the same things as the rest of us and instead of seeing what we see they see something completely different.
