O'Keefe/Breitbart: Have Cover Story, Sticking To It (Even Though it Already Fails)

O'Keefe/Breitbart: Felony Arrest, Manipulation of U.S. Senator's Phone Not What It Seems
Discredited wingnuts lawyer up with high-powered GOP attorneys, downplay crime, go on offensive, blame the 'liberal media'
Latest public explanation for alleged crime quickly shredded...

You folks do realize that James O'Keefe never actually wore his ridiculous pimp costume into those ACORN offices on those doctored and illegally recorded video tapes, right? But, rather, he was filmed outside of the offices wearing his get-up, while appearing as the conservatively dressed boyfriend of a hooker trying to escape an abusive pimp when the cameras were rolling inside the offices. That's just one of many deceptions O'Keefe carried out.

As one of two independent investigations of the incidents which clear ACORN of wrong-doing noted, this one by former MA Attorney General Scott Harshbarger:

Although Mr. O'Keefe appeared in all videos dressed as a pimp, in fact, when he appeared at each and every office, he was dressed like a college student - in slacks and a button down shirt.

That point, and many more in the article linked below, illustrates how the first Breitbart/O'Keefe deception was a scam on the American people from the get-go. And now, since O'Keefe's arrest last Monday, the second one is well underway, as exposed by O'Keefe/Breitbart's first full (and already FAILED) public statement, as posted on Crazy Andy's propaganda site on Friday…

4. Holy Moley! I never heard about the two different costumes that O'Keefe wore during his
pimp escapades. Thanks for clueing me in on that, Brad. Excellent work on this.

You've got to love how the Corporate Media sucks up to these criminals by running an NYT article on them. Just when you thought you'd seen it all.

Recommend.

8. I am not so sure the story will fail
Because it's purpose is to provide a cover for when they drop the charges.
And no one will notice because this story will go down the memory hole as far as the media is concerned, and later on the prosecute will chose not to prosicute....that is how justice works for the upper class.

10. Especially when...
Edited on Sun Jan-31-10 08:47 PM by BradBlog
...the prosecutor is the father of one of the perps, as is the case here?

In any case, the "fail" has to do with the failure of the Breitabart/O'Keefe statement to have any form of legitimacy to it, given that we're dealing with unrepentant con-men here. It doesn't mean the prosecutor (whose son is one of the perps) and the media won't lap it all up hook, lie and sinker

Without a progressive media to counter the bullshit loudly, the way the wingnuts would if the case was reversed, the story is likely to go away unless YOU guys keep the TRUTH out there LOUDLY!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/27/AR2010012704853.html

The article also incorrectly said that Landrieu in July proposed Stephanie A. Finley as a replacement for William J. Flanagan, acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Louisiana, who is the father of Robert Flanagan, one of the other men charged. Landrieu proposed that Finley become the U.S. attorney, but William Flanagan was not the acting U.S. attorney at the time. As the article stated, President Obama nominated Finley for the job last week.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 31, 2009

Landrieu Recommends Belton, Finley, Foote, Whitehorn for Federal Posts in Western District

WASHINGTON -- United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today announced her recommendations to President Obama for three key federal positions in Louisiana's Western District. Sen. Landrieu recommended John Belton and Stephanie Finley as U.S. Attorney, Beth Foote to be U.S. District Court Judge and Henry L. Whitehorn Sr. to be U.S. Marshal.

"John Belton, Stephanie Finley, Beth Foote and Henry Whitehorn have exemplary records of service and the necessary experience to represent the people of the Western District with distinction," Sen. Landrieu said. "I am confident that President Obama and Attorney General Holder will find each to be fair-minded, intelligent and ready to address the challenges that these positions bring. These candidates are well-qualified and prepared to serve in these important posts.

When they obstruct justice like that the victim is not more powerful that the perp. The prosecutor dropping charges could find himself explaining that under oath before a Senate Inquiry or Investigation.

40. They aint getting off. Trust me
This case is way too high profile at this point. There would be too much political backlash if the GOP used any influence to get these perps off. Now they may work out some kind of plea deal to reduce their sentences, but they aint walking away with no jail time. That much I can promise you. They will at least serve 2-3 years behind bars. Then an even lengthened amount of time on probation.

Surely some wingnut welfare can be arranged for Mr. O'Keefe, a sinecure where he can continue to play into frightened white people's fears, while raking in a nice six- or seven-figure annual salary? Then we forget all about that ACORN unfortunateness.

22. Good work, Brad ~
Everyone needs to stay on this story. These clowns are only the tip of the iceberg that is sinking this country into the gutter.

The 'left' has no such network and I think it's time we started.

I hate to say it, but the Times doing a friendly article on these cowardly law-breakers, is not a good sign. I'm afraid they will walk, maybe a slap on the wrist like a few weeks probation.l;

If that happens, democrats should invade Republican Senators offices all over the country and repeat the exact crime these thugs perpetrated as an act of protest.

As for them being 'kids', since when is a 24 year old man a 'kid. Most men that age I know are responsible citizens, some are married with children, and don't have time to commit crimes like this crew they're busy building lives for their families.

Why are these cowards not in Iraq where 'kids' a lot younger than them are dying. Weren't they the supporters of the war?

The judge should send the four of them to the military.

Imagine a man of O'Keefe's age ordered to live at home with his mommy and daddy while kids far younger than he is are risking their lives, not just in wars, but firemen, rescue workers and others.

These people disgust me. They are the scum of the earth.

Keep writing about them, I will too and so should everyone. I bet not one of them would dare to come to this board and try to get away with that fairy tale they're telling.

26. What did he do? Have a link?
I read the result of his investigation of ACORN and it basically coincided with everything that has been exposed about Breitbart and O'Keefe and Giles.

And there is also the judges ruling that ACORN was unconstitutionally defunded by Congress. Not to mention that these clowns who laughable call themselves 'journalists', just like Jeff Gannon, after a two day seminar at Morton Blackwell's School of Propaganda, have been exposed by their own actions, by police reports that they claimed never happened, in their ACORN 'Pimp' stunt.

So, whatever the former MA DA has done, his report on his investigation of ACORN is definitely worth mentioning mainly because it confirms the findings of everyone else who has looked closely at those heavily edited videos the media shamefully hyped.

41. The FBI needs to examine The phone records to see if phone jamming techniques were used.
The GOP loves to do that around election times to ensure people can't through to get out the vote operations. They may have found a new use for the technique. You jam the lines so the constituency can't get through and then start a smear campaign saying her staff doesn't answer the phones. She ignores her constituency.
