Apparently some of these children have parents and relatives. They had no papers for these children. This bunch look very suspect.

1. Having read and compared their mission statement with comments
made by one of the members arrested, I agree...suspect.

were 'adopting' these kids, bells rang. Lots of rumors in Haiti including selling children for $10,000, reaping organs and other stories. One of the kids said she has parents and thought she was going to a camp for a short time. Of course don't rule out that the local contact was cashing in as well.
We had a thread this morning.

5. In their statement they state they would just pick kids up off the street, from hospitals
and collapsed orphanages...just anywhere, basically

but in the news story in LBN, the one woman claimed they had a baptist preacher in Haiti who asked them to come get kids from their destroyed orphanage

It's sickening what people will do

2. The whole thing stank out loud to me, too
If they were telling the truth about the paperwork, they'd have had some small portion of it with them to identify the children, at the very least.

They're child stealers. Oh, their motives might be as pure as the driven snow, but they're still the worst sort of thieves.

4. Nothing about their motives appears pure

How could they afford to rent a hotel in DR if they were not planning to profit off these kids.

10. Bringing savages to Jebus pays well
and Baptists claim Catholics are not Christians. Likely their "mission" was well funded by tithes back home.

6. they might have been 'well intentioned' but they were dead WRONG
to do this.

From what I understand these were not children who were in orphanages before the quake- They were children who had family. They keep saying that the "Dominican Republic" said it was ok- well, the children aren't citizens of the DR- they are Haitian, and only the Haitian Govt. has jurisdiction over them. They also have the responsibility to be sure that they are reunited with their family.
I support foreign adoptions, but this group seemed to think they could just come in and pretty much do whatever they wanted. I'm awfully glad they were stopped at the border, and hope the children are able to connect with family. It's reassuring to see that despite the chaos, the government is paying attention.

8. What worries me is how many others are doing this and NOT getting caught?
It's like watching scavengers swoop down to carry off whatever they can.
