So O'Keefe did this also
according to Crooks and Liars, O'Keefe and his buddy Wetman (think that's his name) applied for a marriage license in MA. And like I been posting, C&L says it really goes for the fact that people go after the thing the despise the most in themselves....BEING GAY. The whole story is over at

1. Did they get the license?
So the state should regulate love, is that the point of their efforts?

Marriage is a social contract between two people. It is nothing more than that. If they wanted to enter that agreement and be legally bound, that is up to them. Love has nothing to do with it.

Plenty of folks get married who are not in love, I don't understand their point.

2. It's like the guy that meets a friend
at an AA meeting embarrassed replies, 'I'm doing research for a paper'.

3. Wetmore
From what I've read, O'Keefe and Wetmore applied for a marriage under the pretense that they were straight men who wanted the tax advantages of a married couple. They were mocking gay marriage.

I don't know the sexual orientation of either young man and neither do you. If I had to guess, I think they're both straight yet so odious that they're unable to attract female partners. Men like this must belittle everyone around them as a way of compensating for their social inadequacy.

which shouldn't be okay because they're of the same gender and incompatible sexual orientations?

Then why is it perfectly okay if a single man and a single woman do the exact same thing?

8. Who's disagreeing?
I was pointing out that the two applied for a marriage license in order to mock gay marriage.

I was also hoping to counter this pervasive belief that all homophobes are actually closeted homosexuals. Such an assumption is as illogical as assuming that racists secretly desire to be members of the races they despise. While there are undoubtedly gay men and women who hide their sexuality behind hypocritical, anti-gay sentiment this simply does not apply to all homophobes. Like racists, homophobes belittle and oppress in order to gain social superiority - they do it because lashing out against others makes them feel less small.

4. I am really amazed at opinions I've formed since the Landrieau event. I am a little shocked.

I didn't follow the Acorn affair that closely. I made assumptions that were so wrong.

I assumed that the ridiculous outfits of both O'Keefe and Giles as they entered the buildings are what they wore when they sat down with the representatives.

I assumed that the questions I heard and the answers from the representatives were original.

I assumed that they were a romantic pair and acting alone.

I was really stupid. It was all edited and we don't know the true Q's and answers to the Q's.

It was all manufactured and I was so wrong in all my assumptions. I can't believe how well I recognized the lies of the CIA and the Bush administration and was proved right time after time and I didn't catch the editing lies of this punk.

He is called a filmmaker by his friends and promoters, but he is a muck and filth raker of the political kind.

It was a perfect lesson for me of what happens when looking at something from the surface and not taking the time to dig in.

And now this? If true, it means that he has more of a parallel to Gannon then their Institute and the people they work for. He is their new found Gannon reporter/filmmaker? The truth shall set him free. Let's have some. His private life excepted, if he chooses, unless it's part of this case.

Lie pit of a nation:
It is easy to see how lies fly in this country which is a lie pit - everyone trying to rip off the truth from each other.

Edited to add: That it looks like I did it again - I posted before reading the C and L and the latest posts. Maybe I should ignore all of this, but I am very interested in the backing and organizations behind him.

Follow the money, follow the political agenda. Landrieu Chair? of Homeland Security Comm. A Blue Dog who has to communicate with the WH?

6. They only want it free for them.
But I'd bet money that O'Keefe believes being straight is a difficult choice that must be made.
