Let's assume the Democrats lose these 8 races: Arkansas, Nevada, Indiana, Colorado, Delaware |
|
Pennsylvania, Illinois and North Dakota.
That would give them a nominal 51-49 majority. Of these, Alexi Giannoulias in Illinois has the best chance of winning. I wish the Democrats would run a better candidate in Florida. I think Marco Rubio can be beaten but not by Kendrick Meek.
We need to keep an eye on Washington State, Wisconsin, California and possibly New York (if Zuckerman gets in).
Absolute worst case scenario is the Republicans retake the senate 53-47. But I suppose it doesn't matter anymore because the Democrats will filibuster everything as pay back.

Why the heck would we lose Illinois and Delaware?
Another bad thing, to me, is that even a win in Pennsylvania with Specter feels like a loss.
Let's assume we win Missouri.

3. As of the moment I believe Illinois is lost. |
|
Kirk is the perfect Republican for this state and Giannoulias has banking connections/problems which the Republicans will exploit to the umpth degree. I am sure there are also photos of Giannoulias with Blagojevich which I expect to be plastering TV screens for the next several months.
