MUST READ: In His Column Of April 15, 2003, Cal Thomas Wrote:
Tom Tomorrow - Huffington Post

<snip>

There's one other quote that I just didn't have room for, which I'd like to include here. In his column of April 15, 2003, Cal Thomas wrote:

"When the Berlin Wall fell and Eastern Europe escaped from the shackles of communism, I wrote that we must not forget the enablers, apologists and other "fellow travelers" who helped sustain communism's grip on a sizable portion of humanity for much of the 20th century. I suggested that a "cultural war crimes tribunal" be convened, at which people from academia, the media, government and the clergy who were wrong in their assessment of communism would be forced to confront their mistakes. While not wishing to deprive anyone of his or her right to be wrong, it wouldn't hurt for these people to be held accountable.

That advice was not taken - but today we are presented with another opportunity in the form of scores of false media prophets who predicted disaster should the U.S. military confront and seek to oust the murderous regime of Saddam Hussein. The purpose of a cultural war crimes tribunal would be to remind the public of journalism's many mistakes, as well as the errors of certain politicians and retired generals, and allow it to properly judge their words the next time they feel the urge to prophesy...

All of the printed and voiced prophecies should be saved in an archive. When these false prophets again appear, they can be reminded of the error of their previous ways and at least be offered an opportunity to recant and repent."

4. cal thomas is a born again christian neo con who
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 03:58 AM by onna no hito
used to be the editor for Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority Report"

hes a certified religous nut job; consider the source.

Cal believes that Israel can do no wrong because he believes that the Bible says
they were promised all the land from the Meditereanean to the euphrates river by
Yahweh...If you are Jewish, before you start thinking maybe he aint so bad...
also remember he also believes in the "one way" to heaven doctrine, like most bible thumping christian fundies. FYI: the "one way doctrine means that only those Jews ( and other non christians)
who accept Jesus as their savior will go to heaven. (John 3:36. 14:6, acts 4:12, etc )

According to Cals interpretation of the Bible, the rest of you are doomed to hell with all the buddhists, hindus, and other non christians etc.

But he wont tell you that, because he wants your political cooperation to christianize the heathen world-with military power.

How duplicitous can you get?

5. Cal's opinions on Israel don't mean shit to me.
But then, I don't actually attempt to speak for all Jews.

10. I remember thinking Thomas was a radical loon back in the 80s
when I used to read his columns in the NY Daily News and roll my eyes. Now, he's a mainstream Republican in the 21st century.

13. Great Point !!!
Because everything shifted hard right, Cal is now mainstream.

The good news is... I feel another shift coming on, and Cal won't like it one bit, LOL!

7. Here's another corker
That article reminded me of an astounding moment less than 2 years earlier, when Cal went wobbly on the dirty hippie scum who opposed the Vietnam war.

George McGovern Was Right

...

Among the many lessons of Vietnam, which, as Beschloss notes, can teach us something about present and future conflicts, is that no president should have exclusive power when it comes to committing so many American lives and resources to a war.

The Johnson tapes should also teach conservatives a lesson. Many anti-war activists love this country as much as those who supported the Vietnam War. Just because someone is of a different party or persuasion does not necessarily mean they are wrong
.

8. put my thinking into words!
i want the bush mediawhores HANGED man! Is that too much to ask? 120 thousand(?) mediawhores DEAD AS DOORNAILS! That's before we round up the busheviki itself! Thank YOU mr Thomas :) You've given a vile fantasy real potential form, and the world owes you, mr calvin, BIG TIME!
(us fricking liberals never think in capitals when it comes to punishment, quite satisfied by slap-on-the-wrist fines or maybe sweeping up after gaypride parades; but here old calvin clues us in to something that really could work)

9. Biased, selfish, ignorant, anti-America -- that's Thomas in a nutshell
He backs the extreme republicon cabal of christofascists and stands against the people of the United States of America. Thomas has scant intelligence, zero wit, does no real reporting, and demonstrates over and over and over again typical republicon traits: no honor, no morals, no integrity.

11. It was the hard right that was wrong about communism. They said we needed to
wage aggressive war against them to defend ourselves. Kinda like today against the terrorists. They said if we didn't defend Vietnam all of South East Asia would turn communist etc. Many of us were saying that the Soviet type of communism was wrought with crime, corruption and cronyism, much like the Bush Administration and would eventually crumble. The Cal Thomas types aren't happy unless they are bombing women and children, to save them from evil of course.

We can compile some books . . .

The Collected Works of William Kristol
Speeches of Richard Cheney, 2001-2007
Condoleezza Rice and the War against Iraq
The George W. Bush Presidential Coloring Book
