Sen. Kyl: Extended unemployment benefits to pass
WASHINGTON — The Senate's second-ranking Republican leader says he expects GOP lawmakers will vote to extend unemployment benefits this week — derailing a fellow Republican's objections.

Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona says the extension will pass, but only because it's temporary.

The benefits are part of a larger package of government programs that are expiring Sunday because senators couldn't agree on how to pay to keep them going.

Democrats couldn't overcome the objections of Republican Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky that the $10 billion measure would add to the budget deficit. Kyl tells "Fox News Sunday" that a longer-term extension will cost much more — and Congress must find a way to pay for it before Republicans will go along.

2. "but only because it's temporary"
"temporary" - Like him, or like us? We still get to try to vote.

3. I read the report some one here posted about Tulsa OK TV station
and go to mad I looked up one of the newspapers. I wrote a letter to the editor via email. I doubt if it will get published. But I told them that is was irresponsible journalism by the TV station to not to explain to the public that it was a REPUBLICAN SENATOR JIM BUNNING FROM KENTUCKY who held up the bill and not Reid and the rest of congress including republicans as well as democrats. That he was also upset because he had to stay and carry on the filibuster and that he missed his basketball between KY and SC. That he was more concerned about that then putting food on the table of the unemployed and that when admonished about it he yelled Tough sh*t right on the senate floor. That why is it when republicans do such monstrous things they are not reported to the public, but these TV stations etc twist the message to blame someone else.

I hope they publish it but I doubt it. I was so angry. This is really the trouble with what happens in this country. The republicans feet are not held to the fire for anything they do. I live in a democratic leaning area and these things are always reported. They also report something if it is in the republicans favor as long as it is truthful. That is the way news should be....truthful and concise.
