Nation of Islam’s Farrakhan cites earthquake, warns America: ‘You will not escape’
Calling this weekend's earthquake in Chile a divine precursor to his planned speech, controversial Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America will face its own imminent disaster and must prepare.

Delivering a message titled "The Time and What Must Be Done," Farrakhan addressed thousands at Chicago's United Center as part of an annual celebration of Saviours' Day, marking the birth of W. Fard Muhammad, who founded the faith 80 years ago.

"It's not an accident that a great earthquake took place in Chile," Farrakhan, 76, said an hour into his three-hour address. "It (precipitated) what I have to tell you today of what's coming to America. You will not escape."

Saying there will be an earthquake in the US is akin to saying one day people will die. Both will eventually happen; they aren't always predicable, and sometimes they are massive, shocking, and devastating and others times, they are quiet, and go unnoticed, and both, are a natural part of life on Earth.

Imagine Farrakhan speaking in, say, NYC (which lies on a fault line) when an earthquake hits.

The building falls down

Two hundred people inside get out...Farrakhan is the only one who gets squashed like a bug.

Yayyyyy God!!!!

14. To all of you slamming Louis Farrakhan
I will put on my fire proof suit late next Sunday.

A number of years ago he came to my city, to where he went to school. He gave a speech on campus (Winston-Salem State University)
He spoke for about 4 hours, it seemed like one.
Everything he was talking about resonated as correct, paralleling my own observations of our society and our problems.

His message is sound, his assessments bold and he contributes clarity.

In my opinion we have ignored his potential insights and contributions at our peril.

He will give a major address next Sunday.

Flame me AFTER you listen to it.

"The word 'prophet' is too cheap a word. I am a light in the midst of darkness," Farrakhan said at the annual convention of the movement that embraces black nationalism. "It ain't ego, it's my love for you."

and he is very familiar with UFO's:
Farrakhan spent most of the fiery nearly four-hour speech recounting a 1985 vision he had in Mexico. Farrakhan has often described how he believes he was invited aboard an unidentified flying object he calls "the wheel" where he said he heard the late Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad speak to him.

33. "We have ignored his potential insights" because they're fuckin' nuts.
Come on. This guy is saying that our mores cause eathquakes. That's some deep 13th Century shit. The author of Piers Plowman believed that sincerely. Pat Robertson believes it now. Both of them may have given hope to some, but their utter nuttiness w/r/t to correlations between scientific, quanifiable events, and subjective human morality contributes nothing but severe damage to culture and society in the long run. It makes people into superstitious fools. In my opinion, spreading pseudo-scientific nonsense for the purpose of scaring followers into donating to his organization is much more morally reprehensible than insulting a so-called "holy" man. So fuck him. I don't give a shit if he's black. Batshit is batshit.

Oh, and should be bring up his virulient anti-semitism? Or is that merely a "contribution of clarity?"

36. I'll step up and say --
I have heard him speak many times, and, while I don't agree with him on many issues, I have to say there was a whole lot of truth he has told, especially on the US's involvement in the Middle East.

I have seen him going through an evolution over the years, especially since his illness. I think his earlier rhetoric caused people to simply shut down and dismiss him. Like Malcolm, age and experiences have changed him. I still find him very challenging, but appreciate his voice.

I'm not going to flame you.

I'm just going to feel sorry for you and remember this every time I see your name next to a post. That you're a supporter of a racist demagogue who can't see the danger Farrakhan represents or hear the clear racism and homophobia he spews. That you find his "message is sound".

I hope you are just duped by his rhetoric but to me, now... you're just another David Duke supporter. I'm sure his people find Duke's "insights" just as compelling.
